FURIA are out of the 2027 VCT and may leave VALORANT

FURIA won the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Kickoff in February 2026, beating MIBR 3-2. On October 19, 2026, the Brazilian organisation said Riot Games had told it the day before that FURIA was not selected for the 2027 partnership programme, and that it has not decided whether it will keep a VALORANT roster.

A Kickoff title that did not carry the application

Liquipedia records that 3-2 as FURIA's first VCT Americas title of the partner era, which started in 2023, and the result that sent the side to Masters Santiago. The trip was short. On March 8, 2026, FURIA lost 1-2 to BBL Esports and finished seventh or eighth.

"We received this decision with profound disappointment," FURIA wrote in the statement Strafe carried on October 19, 2026. "Given everything we have built together, we expected a different recognition of this journey."

Liquipedia has FURIA seventh or eighth at Americas Stage 1, a 0-2 loss to NRG on May 16, 2026, and seventh or eighth again at Stage 2, a 1-2 loss to G2 Esports on August 29, 2026. That results list has no Champions appearance from 2023 through 2026. In 2025 it shows 11th or 12th in both stages, marked 0/5 in each group.

Riot set out how that record would be read on April 8, 2026, when it opened applications for a two-year cycle covering 2027 and 2028. The VALORANT Esports post lists five tests: community growth, fandom and content, business sustainability and responsible operations, operational infrastructure, and competitive success. Partners receive a base payment each year, a performance bonus, an in-game team capsule, and direct placement into later rounds of qualifiers. Riot did not publish the size of the base payment.

The statement treats recognition as something the years of spending had earned. Those April tests do not read that way. Competitive results sit beside the brand, and FURIA's results after February are the weak part of the application.

LOUD and MIBR keep the Brazilian seats

Strafe's October 19, 2026 report said LOUD, Champions winners in Shanghai on October 18, had confirmed it will remain a VCT Americas partner. A separate Strafe report the same day said MIBR had confirmed its own place through the new cycle. FURIA is the Brazilian organisation that published a no, and then left the next step open.

The cut, on that same October 19 account, takes each region from ten partnered organisations to eight. Riot's September 8, 2026 note sets Kickoff in the Americas, EMEA and Pacific at 12 teams: eight partners and four from Open Qualifiers. Brazil has its own qualifier, apart from Latin America North and Latin America South. In most regions at least three of the five players must be from that region, at Ascendant or above. A non-partner that reaches a major stage gets a fixed qualification payment, and can still reach Cups, then Masters, then Champions.

Contracts written for a league that is ending

THESPIKE Brasil, in a report by Bruno Povoleri updated on October 19, 2026, said FURIA had cleared Arthur "artzin" Araujo and Luis Henrique "basic" Tessaro to talk to other teams. Both were told on the night of October 18. The deals run to 2027 but are tied to VCT Americas, and Povoleri reported they end because the franchise structure is going and FURIA was not selected. artzin, basic, Fabian "Shyy" Usnayo and Head coach Ian "shaW" Jardim are free from November 2, 2026, when the transfer window opens. shaW was already leaving even if the application had succeeded.

Gianfranco "koalanoob" Potestio and Daniel "C0M" Lee had already been cleared to look elsewhere, before Riot answered. koalanoob's deal ran into next year. C0M was free at the end of this season.

  • FURIA is outside the eight partners seeded into the 12-team Americas Kickoff.
  • The route back in is the Brazil Open Qualifier, which Riot said on September 8, 2026 begins in November.
  • There is no partner base payment. A fixed qualification payment applies only if a non-partner reaches a major stage.
  • artzin, basic, Shyy and Head coach shaW are due to be free agents on November 2, 2026, on THESPIKE Brasil's account.
  • FURIA has not committed to entering that qualifier, or to fielding a VALORANT team at all.

Counter-Strike is a separate ledger. FURIA's Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) side is already named among the eight teams for BLAST Rivals in Hong Kong from November 11 to November 15, 2026. Dropping VALORANT would not take the organisation off the server. It would drop the title where the invite just disappeared.

Other organisations have made that exit when a partner path did not open. TSM's departure from VALORANT after five years came from outside the league, not from a seat that was then withdrawn. FURIA is deciding from the other side of that line.

The statement names no date for the choice. It does name the gap. "As for VALORANT, we have not yet made a decision regarding our continued participation," FURIA wrote.
