Dota 2 DPC NA Tour 2 Predictions

Date:

The new season of the DPC North America tour 2 promises exciting Dota 2 action. The strong eight-team pool will play each other once in a best-of-three format. The top two sides will qualify for ESL One Stockholm 2022. The top six will remain in the current division for the next tour, while the bottom two sides will be relegated to Division-2 of the next tour.

If the previous season is anything to go by, expect Quincy Crew, Evil Geniuses, among the titans of Dota 2, and Team Undying to be in a three-way race for the top spot. In a tournament of fine margins, Quincy Crew eventually pipped Team Undying by one game to finish top of the table. At any point in time, five teams were in the fray for the top three spots, a sign of healthy competition.

For a while now, they have played in the shadows of Evil Geniuses and Quincy Crew. Finally Team Undying, who will be making their second appearance this time around under the TSM banner, are ready to breakout, having won their first Major North American Dota 2 event recently.

The Journey So Far

MoonMeander and his colleagues beat all three of the other top North American teams. Along the way, they also staved off a serious challenge against a reinvigorated Evil Geniuses to claim the 2022 DPC NA Regional Final following a 3-2 win.

Evil Geniuses’ journey during the tournament was remarkable in many ways, too. Having started feebly, dropping both games against TSM, for a while it looked as if they’d be shown the exit door. But the manner in which they turned it around to set up a rematch in the finale against the same team that thrashed them earlier spoke volumes of their character.

The final made for some compelling viewing, with every game seeing fortunes swing wildly from one side to the other. In a game where no team could have claimed advantage at any stage, Evil Geniuses tried to pull off a lower bracket comeback. Riding on terrific team play and the core of Arteezy, Abed, and Nightfall, all firing in unison, Evil Geniuses eked out a 2-1 lead before TSM stormed back.

Meanwhile, in the final two games, Bryle and Timado gave TSM an inch, which they opened up into an acre to set the platform for a sensational 3-2 win that sealed their first win at an event that featured both Quincy Crew and Evil Geniuses. Their bank account was richer by US$50,000, along with 250 DPC points that helped them jump up into a tie for fourth spot in the international rankings.

Who Can Stop Evil Geniuses?

For a while now, Evil Geniuses have been entirely built around their core duo of Arteezy and Abed. Canadian carry Arteezy averaged a phenomenal 669 GPM throughout the previous season with 100% win rates on Luna and Wraith King. Abed, meanwhile, boasts of the single lowest death average of any midlaner in the league. That stat contributes to the highest KDA of any mid laner.

His explosive play style has the potential of completely taking over a game. But the thing about Evil Geniuses is they have a hero for every situation. If Abed can’t, Arteezy most certainly will. So they’re among the favourites to repeat their magic this time around too. Who will stop them in their tracks?
