Zach Frazier 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Date:

The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Zach Frazier 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Zach Frazier Background

Position: Interior Offensive Line

School: West Virginia

Size: 6-foot-3, 310 pounds

Class: Redshirt Junior

2023 stats: All-Big 12 First Team

Frazier played four good seasons of football for West Virginia on the interior of the offensive line. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Frazier decided to stay in-state to play for the Mountaineers. He started nine games during his freshman season at left guard. The Mountaineers won six games that season. In his second season, he moved to center and started the whole season. His play helped the team win six games again. For the 2022 season, Frazier earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and the Mountaineers won just five games. His last season with West Virginia was in 2023, when he was again All-Big 12 First Team. He led the team to a 9-4 record.

Following the 2023 season, Frazier declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.

Zach Frazier Strengths

Frazier is a good run blocker. He has the quickness at the snap to engage a defender quickly. Frazier has good grip strength and can sustain his blocks in the run game. He can clear holes and gets to the second level well by moving decently in a straight line.

For his size, Frazier has good power. He can clear big holes in the running game and can anchor in pass protection. His wrestling background helps him in this regard. He maintains his leverage well, while some of it is natural leverage, to retain his power and play bigger than his size.

He has good awareness and shows knowledge of how defenses will bring pressure. He calls things out pre-snap, which is something he can build on at the pro level. Once the ball is snapped, he picks up blitzers and looks for work. He can pass off twists and stunts well.

Zach Frazier Weaknesses

He is not the biggest interior offensive lineman in the class. Frazier was listed at 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds at West Virginia and will likely measure smaller at the NFL Combine. His length is also average at best. He was able to outplay his size the collegiate level, but it may be harder to do in the NFL.

Frazier has average athleticism. He can move at a decent pace getting to the second level, but struggles to move laterally. This affects his ability to block in space when defenders try to elude him and in pass pro when he tries to mirror pass rushers.

His hands could be better. He has strong hands that can pack a punch, but often times the timing is late and the placement is wide. Frazier honing in on his hand usage will help make up for when he is at a length disadvantage in the NFL.
