Manila, 4^th September 2023: While dialogues on fintech, fintech’s growing usage and its merger with traditional banking system has become a common phenomenon, the Philippines made space to accommodate ASEAN’s leading FSI event yet again in Manila on 22 – 23 August.

World Financial Innovation Series (WFIS) that took place at the Manila Marriott Hotel sparked numerous industry-leading conversations and brought together the best of the country’s FSI and technology sector under one roof.

Talking about the significance of the event, Anatoly Gusto (Bank Officer V, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) expressed, “I think WFIS was very important, and it should continue because moving forward we need to look at how our future in finance can take shape and for that we need to look at partnerships and digital transformation.”

What set the whole platform apart was the presence of 600+ attendees who were cherry-picked based on several parameters that identified them as Philippines’ top-notch profiles from banks, microfinance, insurance, financial technology and many other sectors.

The two-day event was followed by a glamorous Awards & Gala Dinner on 24 August from 5 pm to 9 pm called WFIS Awards 2023. The session not only bestowed honour and rewarded the best FSI minds but also flashed an exotic range of cocktails and scrumptious dishes to give the participants a more enriching experience.

Featuring the most inspiring thought leaders from the industry, World Financial Innovation Series imparted a great amount of FSI wisdom and shared the latest information on a wide range of topics. Some of the key topics covered during the event included, ‘The Evolution of Cryptocurrencies as Significant Players in the Financial Landscape’, ‘Increase Resiliency and Lower your Risk with AI driven Operations’, ‘With Big Data Comes Big Responsibilities’, ‘The changing nature of eKYC and UX in digital banking’, ‘Metaverse Banking’, ‘Open Finance’ and many more.

While giving an interesting insight on AI, Sudhir Marwa (EVP and Business Head – Wealth and Capital Markets, IntellectAI) said, “As per an interesting study, by 2030 AI will contribute 12% to Philippines’ GDP which will translate to 92 billion dollars and AI is here to stay.”

All in all, World Financial Innovation Series (WFIS) set the pace for acknowledging the latest tech innovations in the industry and powered the ideal platform for bridging the gap between conventional financial institutions and the leading fintech organizations.
