LCS Picks Playoffs Round 2 Spring 2024

100T vs. TL

This series is absolutely going to be a major battle. Two teams that like to win through late-game playmaking, objectives and scaling. Yet, they get there and do so in very different ways. Team Liquid are traditional scalers with their carries playing champions like Aurelion Sol and Smolder. They lose the early game or are barely able to keep up and then their two carries kick in and it is GG from there.

100 Thieves on the other hand do something but they focus less on teamfighting and beat you in the side lanes late. They basically tell you to match Sniper and Quid. This along with them losing early game basically every game but learning what you do well is essential for their late game schedule.

With these two styles clashing in the late game, it comes down to who will make plays and who is the best player on the Rift. This season, it has been Quid and it is hard to argue that he will not ultimately make APA wish they were playing different games. This one will be close but 100 Thieves move on.

Prediction: 100T Win 3-2

FLY vs. C9

It is so hard to not pick Cloud 9 in this one. Even with FlyQuest being the better team the entire season, Cloud 9 are just on another level when they are playing well. Their series against 100 Thieves showed a few things. The first is that they can win in multiple ways, this was the hope from the beginning but they finally truly showed it. Second, Berserker remembers how to play aggressively and win. Finally, this team can play as a team. With all of that, they are terrifying.

FlyQuest on the other hand played their series well enough to win but that was about it sadly. Inspired and Bwipo had a rough series but luckily Jensen and the bot lane stepped up in a major way. When facing C9, this will not be the path to victory for FlyQuest. They have to get more out of the top side for them to be able to hang with Cloud 9, which they should be able to do.

With Berserker playing as well as he is and Jojo being well, Jojo, this feels like a very C9-favored matchup. Cloud 9 have done this before though so maybe they will forget everything good that they did last game and disappoint? The reality for FlyQuest is that even their best is likely not enough to beat Cloud 9 when they are at theirs or slightly below it. This could be a very fun series but picking against Cloud 9 feels like malpractice.

Prediction: C9 Win 3-1
