LCO Split 2 2023: Super Week underway

Date:

Our teams are ready to hit the Summoners Rift, fighting for a top-two seed to compete in the PCS playoffs–their chance at Worlds in South Korea. With a brand new best-of-two format, which teams will succeed?

  • Dire Wolves secure 2-0 against Kanga
  • Mammoth undefeated against Ground Zero after technical difficulties
  • Games resume Tuesday, June 27 @ 6pm

Tuesday night started off fairly slow with a textbook series between Team Bliss and Ground Zero. Playing to their strengths, Bliss were methodical in their approach and absolutely dominated the first match.

Although game two was a bit closer, it wasn’t enough to stop the midlane powerhouse in Daystar, who emerged deathless from the series and allowed the team to reaffirm their second place position.

The second series of the evening proved to be a bit more chaotic as Pentanet and the Dire Wolves took to the Rift. Although they were quite even in gold for the first part of the game, a massive teamfight posed around the third drake set the pace for the rest of the series as Zorenous’ K’Sante went All Out.

PGG bounced back from the skirmish with ease and the two teams pushed and pulled objectives until the Perth team took the Nexus after forty-five minutes.

Carrying this momentum into game two, another teamfight around the third drake went in Pentanet’s favour with a terrifying Zeri-Yuumi botlane duo. Hunting the Wolfpack down in their own jungle, Violet secured a Pentakill for his team. However, this only fuelled the Dire Wolves as they won an integral Baron fight to secure the game, finishing the series 1-1.

With The Chiefs undefeated and Team Bliss on their tail once more, our teams enter Super Week with games slated for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

LCO Split 2 2023 Schedule & Results

There have been some major changes to the format of the LCO ahead of Split 2 this June. The round-robin stage will be played in best-of-twos as opposed to the former two separate best-of-one matches.

Points will be allocated depending on the results, with three awarded for a victorious flawless series, and one point to each team for a 1-1 outcome. Side selections will be submitted from both teams prior to the beginning of a series.

By the end of the round-robin, the top six teams will move into the next stage.

Rather than seeding into groups, the LCO has opted in favour of a double elimination playoffs bracket to give all teams a fighting chance.

The top two teams in our LCO playoffs will seed respectively for PCS playoffs, where they’ll be competing for a shot at Worlds in South Korea in October.

Now with Kevy making his return from NA, The Chiefs will attempt to defend their trophy for the third split in a row.

An outstanding debut regardless of the end result, Team Bliss and their new Korean support Akia look to run it back for Split 2.
