Joey Gallo Signs with Twins on 1-Year Deal

The Minnesota Twins have signed Joey Gallo to a one-year deal. After stints on both the Yankees and the Dodgers last season, Gallo’s contract was allowed to run out, making him a free agent. The deal is reportedly worth $11 million.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news via his Twitter account on Friday.

Gallo was a hot trade commodity in 2021, and ended up being snatched up by the Yankees, while the Rangers got four players in return for him and Joely Rodriguez. His batting average dropped from .223 with Texas to just .160 after the trade.

As stated above, Gallo was on both the Yankees and the Dodgers last season. In total, he batted just .160 over 350 at-bats with both teams. He had just 19 home runs and 47 RBI while striking out 163 times. 57 of those strike outs were during his 44 games with Los Angeles
