Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne has announced his retirement from the NFL. He retires after winning the Super Bowl for the second time in four years. The former second round pick played for three teams over 15 seasons.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday morning.
Henne was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 57th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played for Miami for four seasons, playing in 36 games (31 starts). He went 13-18 as a Dolphin, throwing for 31 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
His NFL journey, then, took him to Jacksonville for five years before landing in Kansas City for four more. Henne had big playoff moments in relief of Patrick Mahomes, including a game-sealing fourth down play in the Divisional Round against the Browns.
