Some Warzone leakers have hinted at the newest Call of Duty: Warzone map, rumored to be coming in April, will have 250-player lobby capabilities.
Current Warzone matches have a player max limit of 150 players, a feat other battle royale games hadn’t equaled at the time. Now if the rumors are true, we may be seeing a nearly 70% increase in that lobby size.
TheLongSensation, who covers Call of Duty news on his YouTube channel, is one of the people who shared this leaked news earlier this year. The new map is rumored to be based in the Ural Mountains, the scene of Black Ops Cold War’s Fireteam: Dirty Bomb missions. The map is rumored to be much larger, contain more vehicles, and according to TheLongSensation, larger lobbies have been tested by Treyarch and Raven Software.
While these are just rumors, and the tests don’t mean guarantees of bigger lobbies, they certainly mean there is potential and interest in Warzone developers wanting to expand the map and lobby size, which can potentially mean a lot of weight on the shoulders of the servers. Warzone servers are currently already dealing with lag and glitch issues, as well as hackers taking control of the lobby and using hacks as an advantage to win. While a new map and big update are always welcome for fans of Warzone and Call of Duty, there are definitely other needs that should be getting attended to for the health and dignity of Warzone.
