Tyler Guyton 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Date:

The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tyler Guyton 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Tyler Guyton Background

Position: Offensive Tackle

School: Oklahoma

Size: 6-foot-7, 328 pounds

Class: Redshirt Junior

2023 stats: All-Big 12 Honorable Mention

Guyton has been a riser up draft boards because of the athletic traits he displayed in college. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Guyton signed with TCU to stay in his home state of Texas. He redshirted in 2020, but did play in one game. In 2021, he saw time as a reserve lineman for the Horned Frogs. For the 2022 season, Guyton decided to transfer to Oklahoma. He saw time at both right and left tackle for the Sooners in the starting lineup. Guyton helped the Sooners win six games. He returned for the 2023 season, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors for his play. His play aided the Sooners improvement to 10 wins in 2023.

Following the 2023 season, Guyton declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Tyler Guyton Strengths

Guyton has solid size for an NFL tackle with a frame that can still be filled out. He stands at 6-foot-7 and 328 pounds, which gives him good height and decent weight for the position. With his size comes good length, even if it won’t be among the top few arm lengths in the class.

For his size, Guyton moves very well. He is quick at the snap of the ball and can move quickly. Guyton can get to the second level and also changes direction well to block defenders trying to evade him. He can be used on pull plays and screens because he can cover so much ground. His ability to move laterally helps him stay in front of pass rushers.

He has good pass-blocking ability. While he did play right tackle, that was Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel’s blindside. He has the ability to mirror pass rushers with his lateral movement skills. Guyton also has good flexibility to help him in this regard as well. With so many explosive athletes rushing off the edge, Guyton has the ability to develop into a player who stalls their progress.

Tylor Guyton Weaknesses

While he has solid size, he is still filling out his frame. With that, his strength is average. He won’t finish blocks in the running game and could clear bigger holes. As a pass blocker, he has just average anchor strength and can give up space to power rushers.

Guyton needs to keep working on his awareness. He doesn’t always see where pressure is coming from. At times teams can bring pressure and he misidentifies where it is coming from. He can also struggle with stunts and twists along the defensive line. More reps will help him in this regard.

He can also improve his hand usage. A lot of times he gets his hands too wide, which makes it easier for defensive linemen to disengage. If he can work on his timing and hand placement, this is an area in which he can get better immediately.
