But, in the “Unconfuse Me ” podcast between Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, an artificial research organization, and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Altman discusses his concern about how artificial intelligence (AI) is swiftly affecting and changing our world. He spoke of the need for the world to catch up and then keep up with this fast-improving technology in order to effectively embrace it.
The fastest technological evolution?
OpenAI CEO stated that AI has by far become the fastest technology revolution, worrying about how the labor market will be affected and how society will have to adjust in order to stay on track with its speed. Altman points out that because of AI, jobs are changing, and we all need to be ready for it. But on a lighter note, Altman made mention of his investments in AI robotics companies. He stated,
“We started investing a little bit in robotics companies. On the physical hardware side, there’s finally, for the first time that I’ve ever seen, really exciting new platforms being built there.”
Altman made it clear that, presently, artificial intelligence is basically taking up more labor than actual jobs. But Altman made it clearly known that in the near future, artificial intelligence will not only begin to take up more actual jobs but will also create avenues and opportunities for more new and better jobs.

Altman showed interest in the future possibilities he sees in healthcare, education, and computer programming. He was of the belief that there is a lot of potential for making a positive impact on the world and bringing about significant evolution in these particular fields.
“If you make a programmer three times more effective, it’s not just that they can do three times more stuff; it’s that they can, at that higher level of abstraction, using more of their brainpower, now think of totally different things. It’s like going from punch cards to higher-level languages didn’t just let us program a little faster. It lets us do these qualitatively new things. I think it’s worth always putting it in context of this technology that, at least for the next five or ten years, will be on a very steep improvement curve.”
Making AI more efficient
He talked about things to come in the future, mainly aiming to make models like the GPT-4 better at being more reliable with better reasoning ability and easier to personalize. It may seem like they want these models to be smarter, more trustworthy, and more adaptable to individual preferences for a better overall experience.
“Currently, GPT-4 asks most questions 10,000 times; one of those 10,000 is probably pretty good, but it doesn’t always know which one, and you’d like to get the best response of 10,000 each time, so that increase in reliability will be important,” Altman stated.
Altman believes that AI will have a massive impact on how society works and the balance of power between different countries. In order to deal with its impact, he suggests creating a globally recognized regulatory body that will ensure AI systems follow the rules. This body would handle things like model limitations, dealing with copyright problems, and taking into account the different viewpoints of countries.
Altman then mentioned that many heads of state were in agreement and supported by the regulatory body for AI technology, which is crucial for responsible and ethical development.
