The New England Patriots have suffered another injury on their defensive backfield. Marcus Jones, a cornerback and return specialist, suffered a torn labrum in Week 2’s loss to the Dolphins, and is going on injured reserve due to the severity of the injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Jones, who is 5-foot-8, went to both Troy and Houston for college ball and was drafted by New England in the third round (85th pick) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He made First Team All-Pro during his rookie season, as a return specialist.
In 15 games played last year (four starts), Jones collected 39 tackles, seven pass defenses, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown. He returned punts and kicks last year, racking up a league-leading 362 yards in punt returns.
