The recent trailer for Kingdom Hearts Missing Link revealed that the game is a GPS based game. This means it’s going to be similar to games like Pokemon Go and Monster Hunter Now. But the trailer also stated “Travel the world without stepping outside.” This then begs the question, ‘how does Kingdom Hearts Missing Link GPS work?’

This statement from the trailer is actually a bit misleading. The walking around system without moving utilizes a currency called AP. AP is used to travel from the users current location to others they’re not actually physically at. Players can save up AP by walking outside, participating in battles, or with microtransactions. This means players are better off walking at least a little to gain AP, since heartless encounters are more common this way as well.

After walking around, they can use the AP system at their own convenience. So pretty much, for players thinking they don’t have to go outside at all to play the game, they would be wrong. Unless you’re looking to drop loads of money on the game, walking outside is definitely prioritized. Long story short, expect an experience similar to Pokemon Go in regards to the GPS — but with a built in system to help players when they want to stand still.
Other gameplay aspects of the game have revealed as well. Missing Link has controller support in addition to auto battle. This should help with overall appeal, since a lot of Kingdom Heart players are console enthusiasts. In addition, the auto battle system allows players to play less dangerously while walking.
