A veteran organization clashes with the reigning BLAST World Final Champions, as NAVI take on G2 in the second quarter-final in Abu Dhabi.

G2 were an unknown quantity coming into this tournament, as they attended only one LAN event at the beginning of CS2, it being IEM Sydney. However, after their online struggles earlier this month, when played their first officials with Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic, they seem to be slowly getting back to their best. The reigning BLAST World Final Champions started their campaign with a close win against MOUZ, which set up their game with FaZe in the Upper Final.

The two squads went toe-to-toe and were close to equal throughout the series, but it was FaZe who ground out the result and eventually booked themselves a semi-final spot. Despite that loss, the individuals on the side of G2, like Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov played very well and showed a lot of promise.

NAVI

Despite Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov joining the roster just a little over a month ago, NAVI are the longest-standing lineup in Abu Dhabi. It may come as a shock, especially when considering their results in the competition thus far. The international roster suffered a commanding defeat to Vitality in their first game, before barely scraping by against an in-flux ENCE team, and miraculously avoiding elimination.

Funnily enough, Mihai “iM” Ivan, who’s been one of the biggest disappointments of this iteration of NAVI, is the team’s highest performer at the BLAST World Final, sporting a solid 1.16 rating across five maps. If the rest of his teammates can play to the same level, then they might have a chance at making the semi-finals.

G2 vs NAVI Odds & Prediction

Pinnacle Esports favour G2 to fend off NAVI and play Vitality in the semi-final on Saturday. However, if everything falls into place for NAVI, then they are capable of completing the upset and making it a reality.
