Fantasy Football Week 8 Wide Receiver Rankings

Date:

The 2023-24 NFL season has been outstanding so far. Already there have been a ton of breakout players and fantasy duds that have made the game so entertaining. Bye weeks have started to take place. However there are none this week. So Fantasy Managers will have full utilization of their roster and plenty of options to choose from when selecting who to start the week. On top of that, Injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season as well. It’s always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 8 wide receiver rankings.

*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to the Injured Reserve List

(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)

Key:

Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.

Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

High WR2- a player who may not be likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 territory.

Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor

Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.

Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and cause a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.

Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.

Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

Miami Dolphins Wide Receivers: WR1 Tyreek Hill & WR18 Jaylen Waddle

Tyreek Hill was held out of practice Wednesday with a hip injury. Jaylen Waddle was limited in practice on Wednesday with a back injury. If Hill is inactive and Waddle plays in Week 8 against the New England Patriots Waddle moves up to WR15 between Adam Thielen and Zay Flowers. Braxton Berrios moves up to WR64 between Brandon Powell and Kadarius Toney.

If Waddle is inactive and Hill plays in Week 8 against the New England Patriots then Braxton Berrios moves up to WR64 between Brandon Powell and Kadarius Toney.

If both Hill and Waddle are inactive Braxton Berrios moves up to WR46 between Odell Beckham Jr. and K.J. Osborn. Robbie Chosen becomes the WR68 between Jayden Reed and Jonathan Mingo. Chase Claypool becomes the WR74 between Josh Reynolds and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

WR22 Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chris Godwin is currently listed as questionable for this week’s game with a neck injury. If Godwin doesn’t play in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills Devin Thompkins becomes the WR63 between Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Brandon Powell. Trey Palmer becomes the WR75 between JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore.

WR30 Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers

Josh Palmer missed practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. It is unclear at this point if his injury will hold him out of this week’s game. If Palmer misses Week 8 against the Chicago Bears Quinten Johnston moves up to WR43 between Kendrick Bourne and Tyler Lockett. Derius Davis becomes the WR84 between Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Alec Pierce.

WR44 Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

Tyler Lockett missed practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. He appeared to be limited in last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. If Lockett misses Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns Jaxon Smith-Njigba moves up to WR45 between Jerry Jeudy and Odell Beckham Jr. Jake Bobo becomes the WR74 between Josh Reynolds and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

WR51 Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders

Curtis Samuel missed practice on Wednesday with a foot injury. If he misses Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles Jahan Dotson moves up to WR49 between Brandin Cooks and Tank Dell. Dyami Brown becomes the WR80 between Quentin Johnston and Marvin Mims Jr.

WR55 Robert Woods, Houston Texans

Robert Woods missed practice on Wednesday with a foot injury. If Woods misses Week 8 agains the Carolina Panthers Tank Dell moves up to WR47 between Odell Beckham Jr. and K.J. Osborn. Noah Brown would become the WR74 between Josh Reynolds and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

WR62 Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars

Zay Jones has missed four of the past five games with a hamstring injury. It is unclear if Jones will return this week. If Jones misses Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Jamal Agnew becomes the WR76 between Skyy Moore and Darnell Mooney.

Players that are currently not expected to play

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel missed last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a shoulder injury. He is expected to also miss this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. While Samuel is out Brandon Aiyuk will be the team’s top receiver. After Aiyuk Jauan Jennings should see the second most snaps at wide receiver. Ray-Ray McCloud will likely be utilized similarly to how Samuel has been used in this offense while he is out.
