Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 9

Date:

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 9. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

In week 8, Hubbard had 15 carries for 28 yards. He also registered two catches for 26 yards. While it wasn’t his greatest performance, the important thing is that he still got most of the work out of the backfield. That could be valuable down the stretch of the fantasy season.

Miles Sanders returned in week 8, but Hubbard still got the majority of the workload. If things continue at this rate, Hubbard will provide value in the coming weeks. He can be picked up and the situation can be monitored for the time being. Right now, Hubbard is rostered in just 42.9 percent of ESPN leagues.

Demercado saw the most work in his young career in week 8. Against the Ravens, Demercado had 20 carries for 78 yards. He also had one catch for one yard. He was able to get more work than Keontay Ingram, which is a good sign moving forward.

James Conner is still going to be out for a few weeks with an injury. Demercado can see a lot of the work out of the backfield over the coming weeks even with Ingram playing a role. Like Hubbbard, Demercado likely isn’t startable right now unless a fantasy manager is desperate with injuries or bye weeks, but is worth adding. He is rostered in just 39.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

Doubs has been a player that the Packers have utilized a lot this season. He is WR35 in standard-scoring leagues. In week 8 against the Vikings, he hauled in four passes for 18 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Love targeted him nine times.

While the Packers’ offense has struggled, Doubs looks like a safe bet to continue receiving targets. The Packers also figure to be losing a lot of games the rest of the season, so they will have to throw to keep up, which only helps Doubs. He is rostered in 48.3 percent of ESPN leagues.

Johnston was the first round pick of the Chargers, but he took a while to start producing. Johnston had a season-high of two receptions in the first seven weeks of the season. In week 8, Johnston seemed to earn more of the trust of quarterback Justin Herbert. He caught five passes for 50 yards on six targets.

With Mike Williams out for the season, Johnston will likely have to continue to step up down the stretch. As he builds more trust, he can produce more down the stretch. For now, he can be added and stashed until he reaches the point of putting up more stats. He is rostered in 31.4 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Murray has recently been activated to practice. He has not yet suited up for a game, but that could be coming. If the Cardinals plan on tanking, they could even trade Murray and let him get a chance elsewhere. Either way, he is likely to suit up soon.

While he hasn’t played yet this season, Murray can be added now and stashed until he is ready to play. With plenty of injuries around the NFL at the quarterback position, Murray could be a valuable piece to a fantasy team down the stretch. He is rostered in just 31.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
