Diamondbacks Trade for OF Tommy Pham

Date:

The Arizona Diamondbacks weren’t done yet, just ahead of the 6:00pm ET 2023 MLB trade deadline. They have acquired outfielder Tommy Pham from the Mets, as they sell off players among a very underwhelming season that most thought should’ve ended in an NLCS bid at least.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

Pham began his MLB career back in 2015 with the St. Louis Cardinals, then bounced around to the Rays, Padres, Reds, Red Sox, Mets and now Diamondbacks. He’s currently on a one-year, $6 million contract he signed in the offseason.

In 79 games, 264 plate appearances (231 at-bats), Pham is hitting for an average of .268 in 2023. He struck out 56 times, hit 10 home runs and collected 36 RBI. If this batting average holds, it will be Pham’s highest since 2019.
