College Football Playoff Bracketology September 10

Date:

Each week teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Preseason rankings will not be taken into consideration here. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology September 10.

CFP Four

1. Texas Longhorns (2-0)

Texas went into Tuscaloosa in week 2 and beat Alabama 34-24. The Texas is back jokes could actually be true this season as this is one of the best wins they have had in years. Not only did they beat a top three team on the road, Rice beat Houston, making their first win of the season look better as well.

This week: vs. Wyoming Cowboys (2-0)

2. Florida State Seminoles (2-0)

After dismantling LSU in the second half of their opener, Florida State had no problems with Southern Miss in week 2. They won 66-13 and are on a roll to start the season. The ACC schedule looks pretty wide open for them to make a run in the future.

This week: at Boston College Eagles (1-1)

3. Duke Blue Devils (2-0)

A win over FCS-level Lafayette won’t move the needle very much, but Duke still gets a lot of credit for beating Clemson in week 1. Although it looks like Clemson could have some struggles this season, for now it is still a quality win.

This week: vs. Northwestern Wildcats (1-1)

4. Colorado Buffaloes (2-0)

In week 2, Coach Prime and Colorado were able to pull away in the second half over Nebraska. It is still hard to tell how good of a win that might be, but they still deserve to be ranked highly for beating TCU in week 1.

This week: vs. Colorado State Rams (0-1)

First Four Out

5. Miami Hurricanes (2-0)

Miami hosted a ranked Texas A&M team in week 2 and defeated them for a huge win. Their win over Miami (Ohio) in week one doesn’t help them too much, but they are one of the few teams with a ranked win this season.

This week: vs. Bethune Cookman Wildcats (FCS)

6. Washington State Cougars (2-0)

Washington State may be one of the schools left holding the bag in the Pac-12 (or 2Pac if you prefer), but they also helped show the conference’s strength in week 2. The Cougars hosted and defeated a ranked Wisconsin team 31-22 that helps their prestige early in the season.

This week: vs. Northern Colorado Bears (FCS)

7. Ole Miss Rebels (2-0)

Things didn’t look great for Ole Miss for most of their game at Tulane. They were able to pull away very late in the game to get the win. Getting a road win over a ranked team is not easy and Ole Miss gets credit for the win even if they have plenty to clean up in the next few weeks.

This week: vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-1)

8. Utah Utes (2-0)

Utah went on the road and won an ugly game against Baylor. They were without starting quarterback Cam Rising, which makes the fact that it wasn’t pretty more understandable. The Utes will hope to get him back soon as the schedule will get tougher soon.

This week: vs. Weber State Wildcats (FCS)

Next Four Out

9. Oregon Ducks (2-0)

Oregon was able to win a close game on the road at Texas Tech 38-30. It was a tougher game than their week 1 win in which they scored 81 points against Portland State, but a win in a hostile environment helps their stock.

This week: vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-2)

10. Wyoming Cowboys (2-0)

Wyoming upset Texas Tech on in Laramie in week 1. The week 2 matchup was a win over FCS-level Portland state, but they stay in the rankings due to their week 1 win, which looks better after Texas Tech battled Oregon tough in week 2.

This week: at Texas Longhorns (2-0)

11. Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0)

Penn State looked good again in week 2 albeit against FCS-level Delaware. Their week 1 win over West Virginia is their best win, but they look like a team that could move up the rankings when they face better competition.

This week: at Illinois Fighting Illini (1-1)

12. Fresno State Bulldogs (2-0)

Week 2 was a little tougher for the Bulldogs, as they defeated FCS-level Eastern Washington 34-31 in overtime on Saturday. Their week 1 win over Purdue looks better after the Boilermakers went on the road and defeated Virginia Tech.

This week: at Arizona State Sun Devils (1-1)
