The star of Xtreme Gaming, Wang “Ame” Chunyu, received recognition in China for his accomplishments in 2023 once more.
The Chinese eSports scene appears to know how to honor the top players in the area. The 2023 Returning eSports Player of the Year is Wang “Ame” Chunyu. Considering his past performance and the fact that both teams and fans felt his absence, this is hardly shocking.
Ame did not do anything for a full year. That’s extremely unexpected for someone 26 years old. However, if you want to win tournaments, Dota 2 is not the kind of game you should play casually. You could as well not even try if you don’t give it your all.
It made perfect sense for Ame to take a break from competitive play and focus on his personal life, as getting married is a lengthy process. But he decided to go back in December 2023. He won’t, however, be competing for LGD Gaming. Xtreme Gaming is his new home, and he will have teammates in Dy, XinQ, Xxs, and Xm.
Because of their prior accomplishments, the first three of these players are considered legendary in China. The fourth player still has to prove himself, but he won ESL One Kuala Lumpur with Azure Ray before joining Xtreme.

Wang’s Chinese national team was also recognized at Weibo Night with the Annual Influential eSports Team Award. In Hangzhou, they won the 19th Asian Games.

Ame’s contributions to the Dota 2 scene have received widespread recognition, even though he has never won The International. Ame received this award from The Beijing News, a Chinese Communist Party publication.
Ame was instrumental in helping China win the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games, according to a statement made public on Weibo. “In the Asian Games final, he helped the Chinese team win the gold,” the statement read. He officially returned to the Blade Tower professional field in December of 2023. Your little king is back.
Additionally, Ame received recognition for his contributions at Weibo Night 2023 when he was given the “Notable Athlete of the Year” award. His hometown of Taicang City also honored him with a reception given by the Taicang City Fire Rescue Brigade in recognition of his accomplishments.
Weibo Night 2024 saw more recognition for Chinese Dota 2, as the squad that won gold at the 19th Asian Games was named the “Annual Influential eSports Team.” This comes after they were honored with the “Annual eSports Contribution Award” at Weibo Night 2023, which is evidence of their influence on the eSports scene.
The following players represented China in Dota 2 at the 19th Asian Games: Wang Chunyu “Ame”, Yao Lu “Somnus”, Shenyi Yang “Chalice”, Zhao Zixing, aka “XinQ”, Yajun Yu “皮됃”, Jiahan Xiong “Pyw” (substitute), and Coach Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng.
