Versatile offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker is missing a huge part of the regular season for the second year in a row, due to injury. An MRI confirmed that Vera-Tucker tore his Achilles, which is the same kind of injury that derailed the team’s season just a few snaps into the first game, as Aaron Rodgers hit the turf with the same ailment.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Vera-Tucker was a highly touted versatile offensive lineman out of USC ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was eventually taken by the Jets in that draft with the 14th overall selection of the first round. In his first season, he was the starting left guard in name, but could move all over the offensive line if the team needed.
In 2022, Vera-Tucker played only seven games, missing the rest of that season due to injury as well. He did play every single game of his rookie year. He took 1,026 offensive snaps in his first year, 432 in his second and just 250 before being shut down this year
