The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) juts announced their new class of 2023 Fellows. AAAI is a nonprofit that aims to advance and promote research in, and the responsible use of, artificial intelligence. Each year, AAAI asks the community to nominate members of the community that have made “significant, sustained contributions to the field of artificial intelligence” for the Fellows program.
Fellows are selected by a Fellows Selection Committee comprising nine current Fellows, and chaired by the Past President of AAAI. Nominees are chosen based on individual technical contributions or for having performed significant extended service for the AAAI. There are 11 2023 AAAI Fellows. Among them is Vipin Kumar, who has contributed to past Computing Community Consortium efforts.
Kumar is the Regents Professor at the University of Minnesota, where he holds the William Norris Endowed Chair in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Kumar received a B.E. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (formerly, University of Roorkee), India, a M.E. degree in Electronics Engineering from Philips International Institute, Eindhoven, Netherlands, and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park.
Over the years he has participated in CCC’s Artificial Intelligence Roadmap Workshop 3 – Self Aware Learning, CCC’s Spatial Computing Workshop, an author of the CCC’s Workshop Report on Data Science for Food, Energy and Water and a speaker for the Symposium on Accelerating Science: A Grand Challenge for AI.
Please join us in congratulating Kumar and the rest of the AAAI class of 2023 Fellows! You can learn more about nominations or the AAAI Fellows program on their website.
