3 Ways to Find the Perfect League of Legends Group

Date:

Many League of Legends players queue up alone, but feel the game would be more enjoyable with a group of players by their side. Team strategizing, inside jokes, and forming new friendships are all incredible parts of having a team to play with. Not to mention, it’s great to have multiple people for ARAM or casual Summoner’s Rift games, or to try ranked with different partners if someone’s duo is unavailable. But where should players look to find a consistent group?

For players who usually play solo but would like to try something new, or those that have some friends but would like to find a full group, these strategies are a perfect starting point to create the League of Legends group of their dreams.

Forums

One of the most straightforward and quick ways of finding a League of Legends group is to look on a forum. There are many player connection sites to choose from, whether it’s r/LeagueConnect, Porofessor‘s Looking for Group section, or others.

How Does it Work?

First, players should pick which forum they would like to search. LeagueConnect is convenient when searching for a group, since players can keyword search for “group” and find something easily. It also has 64,000 members, so there is usually a fitting new post. Porofessor is great for filtering game modes, roles, and ranks, but seems to be geared more toward individuals. There is also TeamTavern, TeamFind, and Guilded, which are all made specifically for groups. Players can choose one, or look through multiple, but just starting somewhere is more important than finding the perfect platform.

Then, it is simply a matter of looking through the different entries. Users will post key information such as their group size, what game modes they like to play, and sometimes extras such as their rank or preferred roles.

Ultimately, it is then up to each player to decide which people they might fit in with best, and reach out to them. Or, they can create their own post and see who responds. But either way, after a few messages, they can become part of their new League of Legends group.

Considerations

There are a multitude of options to choose from, both in terms of platform and the amount of player posts. This makes it easier to find players quickly, and also makes it easy to play other game modes like ARAM and URF. Additionally, players can also find different skill levels, which is beneficial for new players worried about their play level or veteran players looking for someone that will be a good match.

However, the upside of this strategy is also its downfall, and it can be overwhelming to sort through so many posts. Additionally, people online are prone to ghosting or toxicity, so it can be a dice roll to find quality friends. But, with a good combination of effort and luck, this can be a simple way for players to find a new group.

Small Streams

Many streamers play League of Legends with their viewers. Particularly if their viewer count is smaller, this can be a great way for players to find a League of Legends group.

How Does it Work?

To find an interactive stream, try looking for streamers that have played with their viewers in the past and follow them. Or, simply search “League of Legends with viewers” and see if there is anyone currently live. Since League of Legends is such a popular category, there are usually at least one or two available options. Then, join in and have a great game with the group, or spectate until they have an opening.

When players find a stream that they feel comfortable in, they can keep coming back and form connections with the community. But even if they don’t, they can also just stay for a random game here and there. Whether players are looking to build a lifelong group to play with or only want to play with others occasionally, they can choose either option. This way, they can truly find a League of Legends group that matches their level of investment.

Considerations

Choosing to play while visible on stream may be intimidating for some, and detract from enjoyment of playing with others. But, for those that enjoy it, having viewership could also add a new dimension to their game play.

Additionally, while joining into the stream means that players don’t have to build up the group themselves, it also means that they have little control over the environment. They may have to search between a few streams before they find a welcoming community that works for them.

Friend of a Friend

Not every IRL friend or acquaintance is a League of Legends player, but they might know someone who is. Leveraging these connections can help players find the perfect League of Legends group.

How does it Work?

Try casually bringing up the subject of League with others, and see what they have to say about it. “I’ve never tried it, but my friends play all the time,” or “Oh, my brother is obsessed with that game” are promising reactions that could lead to friendships later on. A simple “I’d love to play with them if you think we’d get along,” or “That’s great, you should introduce us!” opens the door for further connection, and ideally an entrance to the group.

Players may have to ask around a bit when looking for a group this way, especially if they get a disinterested or negative response from the first person they ask. However, even just checking around in this way lets others know that they are interested in finding a League of Legends group. Perhaps a coworker that overhears has a group invite, or perhaps that friend from class plays with their friends on the weekend and has just never talked about it before. Starting the conversation opens many doors, even if some of them don’t work out.

However, once a connection pans out, players can then join an existing group without the hassle of finding multiple people to play with completely from scratch. This is particularly great if the people in question are welcoming and have a good dynamic together, which could be fun to join in on. And since it resulted from a mutual connection, there is a good chance that the newly joined player already has one or two things in common with the existing group. This could lead to deeper friendships and an easier time keeping the group together for the future.

Considerations

This may take a bit longer to enact than other strategies, and take more effort than finding someone online. But, for the prospect of long-lasting gaming friendships, it might be worth it for many players. This can also be a good avenue to search for a League of Legends group that crosses over into real life friends.
