The college football season is about to start, but it isn’t too early to look ahead. Here is the 2023 NFL Mock Draft December 1.
1. Houston Texans- C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State Buckeyes
Davis Mills has been benched, so it makes it clear that the Texans need a quarterback. Stroud has shown nice poise and touch in his passing over his career.
2. Chicago Bears- Will Anderson, Edge, Alabama Crimson Tide
The Bears traded away most of their talented defenders and can now get a player to really build the defense around. Anderson is a good pass rusher, but also plays the run well.
3. Detroit Lions (via LAR)- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Crimson Tide
If a top quarterback doesn’t fall to the Lions, they could improve their defense, but they can’t pass up Young if he falls. He has been clutch and has the ability to extend plays with his legs.
4. Seattle Seahawks (via DEN)- Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia Bulldogs
Seattle had a great 2021 NFL Draft class, which has set them up well. They can take the best player available in Carter, who can be very disruptive on the interior of the defensive line.
5. Carolina Panthers- Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Wildcats
Levis didn’t have his best season at Kentucky, but he was banged up and still has elite tools. Carolina will want one of the top two quarterbacks, but may be out of reach for them.
6. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO)- Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Bulldogs
The Eagles are a well-built team who can go in just about any direction with this pick. Ringo has been a shutdown corner for Georgia this season and is likely going to be the first corner off the board.
7. Arizona Cardinals- Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson Tigers
Arizona will have to find a way to get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks next season. Murphy has 6.5 sacks and can impact the game by getting to the quarterback.
8. Green Bay Packers- Bryan Bresee, DL, Clemson Tigers
Green Bay’s defense has been bad this season. They can improve their defensive line with the selection of Bresee, who is a good athlete.
9. Las Vegas Raiders- Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State Buckeyes
The Raiders defense needs help, but the offensive line has also taken a step backwards. Johnson has played both guard and tackle, but is a better fit at tackle.
10. Houston Texans (via CLE)- Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU Horned Frogs
After getting their quarterback, the Texans can get a top-tier target for him. Johnston is a bigger receiver to create mismatches, but also has solid speed.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars- Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern Wildcats
The Jaguars focused on improving the defense last season, but now can focus on protecting their franchise quarterback. Skoronksi can play anywhere on the offensive line, as he was recruited as a center but played well at left tackle.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers- Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State Nittany Lions
Pittsburgh could improve the offensive line if one of the top ones fall, but their secondary could also use some help. Joey Porter was a Steelers’ legend and his son would fit in well with the culture.
13. Detroit Lions- Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Lions got one good pass rusher in 2022 and can double down on the pass rush in 2023. Wilson is huge and had seven sacks in 10 games played.
14. Indianapolis Colts- Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Gators
Indianapolis needs to invest in a first round quarterback, even if they sit for a year behind Matt Ryan. Richardson has all the physical tools to be a good quarterback, but needs to read the field better and have better accuracy.
15. Atlanta Falcons- Jordan Addison, WR, USC Trojans
If the Falcons decide to turn the offense over to Desmond Ridder next season, they need to give him more weapons, especially after trading Calvin Ridley away.
16. Seattle Seahawks- Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon Ducks
Seattle doesn’t have the same quality of linebackers that they had a few years ago. Sewell can really help stop the run.
17. Los Angeles Chargers- Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson Tigers
The Chargers have not had good enough play out of their linebackers this year and could be in position to get a solid one in Simpson.
18. New England Patriots- Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU Tigers
At some point, the Patriots have to address the wide receiver position. Boutte’s stock has fallen with some drops and inconsistent play, but the Patriots could get a lot out of him.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas Longhorns
The Buccaneers have struggled to run the ball effectively and drafting Robinson would help with that, as he is very elusive.
20. Washington Commanders- Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon Ducks
Gonzalez has been one of the biggest risers of the draft cycle after putting up a good season at Oregon. The Commanders are out of range to get a top quarterback and should improve the defense more.
21. Baltimore Ravens- Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ravens are very thin at wide receiver since Rashod Bateman was injured. Smith-Njigba has dealt with injury this season, but could be a good slot receiver in the NFL.
22. New York Jets- Michael Penix, QB, Washington Huskies
Zach Wilson has been benched and the Jets may be in the market for a new quarterback. Penix has a strong arm to make plays downfield.
23. Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Cincinnati signed Hayden Hurst to a one-year deal. They may want to get a new tight end for next season and Mayer is a local kid who has been good all-around for Notre Dame the last few seasons.
24. New York Giants- Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina Tar Heels
Kadarius Toney has been traded and Kenny Golladay did not work out. Wan’Dale Robinson will have a bigger role when healthy, but the Giants could use some more playmakers at receiver.
25. Denver Broncos (via SF)- Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia Bulldogs
The Broncos just traded away Bradley Chubb and need more pass rushers for next season.
26. Tennessee Titans- Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State Seminoles
Verse transferred to Florida State from Albany and showed off his unique athleticism.
27. Dallas Cowboys- Antonio Johnson, S, Texas A&M Aggies
Dallas has a few versatile players on defense and Johnson is that way too, as he lines up all over the secondary.
28. Buffalo Bills- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama Crimson Tide
Trading for Nyheim Hines at the deadline was nice, but getting an every-down back would really help the offense.
29. Miami Dolphins- Forfeited
30. Minnesota Vikings- Clark Phillips III, CB, Utah Utes
Patrick Peterson is playing well, but aging. If the Vikings want to sustain their success they need to get some more options for when Peterson declines.
31. Kansas City Chiefs- Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
They looked at adding a pass rusher at the deadline, but were unable to get a deal done, so they can add one in the draft.
32. Philadelphia Eagles- Brandon Joseph, S, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Philadelphia doesn’t have many needs, but can improve at safety. Joseph has been a ballhawk throughout his career.
