Jake Bailey, Moochie Dixon, Romello Brinson and Jordan Hudson each have over 400 yards.

Three running backs have done most of the work for the Mustangs this season. Miami transfer Jaylan Knighton leads the team with 720 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. LJ Johnson Jr. and Camar Wheaton have also contributed with 544 and 410 rushing yards respectively.

Defensively, the Mustangs give up 17.4 points per game, ranking them 12th in the country. They give up 111.2 rushing yards (ranked 18th) and 188.4 passing yards per game (ranked 22nd). Linebacker Kobe Wilson has the team lead with 74 total tackles. Elijah Roberts has done a good job getting after the passer with 9.5 sacks. Isaiah Nwokobia has four interceptions on the year.

Boston College Eagles (6-6)

Boston College won six games to make their first bowl game since 2021. They won two games over teams who qualified for bowl games: Georgia Tech and Syracuse. Their only loss to a team that didn’t make a bowl game was to Pitt.

The Eagles score 25 points per game, ranking them 83rd in the country. They pass for 189.2 yards (ranked 105th) and rush for 193 yards per game (ranked 19th).

Thomas Castellanos has been the starting quarterback for the Eagles this season. He has passed for 2,146 yards, 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on 57.1 percent completion. Four players have at least 200 receiving yards on the season. Lewis Bond leads the team with 611 yards and seven touchdowns.

Four players have at least 200 rushing yards on the season. Castellanos leads the way from the quarterback position with 957 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Pat Garwo is in the transfer portal, but Alex Broome and Kyle Robichaux are still active at the running back position with 280 and 691 rushing yards respectively.

The Eagles give up 29.5 points per game, ranking them 93rd in the FBS. They allow 193.8 rushing yards (ranked 122nd) and 197.7 passing yards per game (ranked 28th). Linebacker Vinny DePalma has been all over the field with 87 total tackles. No player on Boston College’s roster has more than two tackles. Elijah Jones has made plenty of plays on the ball this season with nine passes defended and five interceptions.

Prediction

SMU’s high-powered offense should be able to move the ball against Boston College. The Eagles haven’t defeated that many great teams this year and the Mustangs will have extra time to prepare for Castellanos and his ability to use his legs.
