“Waycare believes in maintaining the highest standards of security,” says Waycare VP of R&D, Shai Maron. “As such, we have established internal protocols and policies that assure rigid compliance to privacy and security, giving peace of mind to our clients.”

Waycare, a cloud solution for traffic management, today announced that it has achieved SOC 2 Types I and II compliance. SOC 2 is widely recognized as the gold standard for data security and requires organizations to establish and follow strict information security policies and procedures. An accredited third-party annually audits and assures the privacy and security of all Waycare’s SaaS-based products. This milestone further validates Waycare’s commitment to securing company and customer data by establishing best-in-class safeguards in accordance with the AICPA’s five “trust service principles” – security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

Waycare uses advanced technology like artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze vast amounts of traffic-related data, helping improve traffic management operations, efficiency, and proactivity. Some of this data is sensitive, including anonymized data from connected vehicles which the agency uses to detect problematic road conditions. As such, the company put measures in place to protect critical data from being lost or stolen and developed a detailed disaster recovery plan in the case of any emergency or server outage. A third-party auditor was employed to review materials and documentation related to its security procedures, data storage, firewalls, risk mitigation processes, and more.

A SOC 2 Type I audit was performed in April 2020, providing an attestation of security measures at that point in time. Subsequently, Waycare underwent its SOC 2 Type II audit in December 2020, to confirm its continuation of the same policies and procedures from the previous six months. With the full audit completed and approved, Waycare achieved both certifications, ensuring the security of its data on a continual basis.

“Waycare believes in maintaining the highest standards of security,” says Waycare VP of R&D, Shai Maron. “As such, we have established internal protocols and policies that assure rigid compliance to privacy and security, giving peace of mind to our clients.”
