VCT EMEA Challengers 1 – Fnatic Secures First Place in Group B

Date:

Yesterday was an exciting day for fans of Valorant Champions Tour EMEA region. We were able to witness the decider match between Fnatic and Guild Esports, the two teams that were at the top of the leaderboards throughout the group stage. Fnatic won with 2 – 1 and secured the first spot in Group B with 5 wins and zero losses.

The renamed Gambit Esports team, M3 Champions, fought their first match against Natus Vincere and won 2 – 0 without even breaking a sweat. They have two more matches left to go in week 6, after which we’ll see the final standings in Group A.

Fnatic Cruises Through Group B

Fnatic has been the most successful team in the EMEA region so far. Despite being placed in Group B, which was an objectively harder group, Fnatic managed to defeat everyone that stood in their way and finished with a perfect 5 – 0 score.

They’ve directly qualified for the Upper Bracket Round 2 in VCT EMEA Challengers 1: Playoffs and will have a shorter route to the grand finals.

Their match against Guild Esports was an especially important one. Guild Esports needed this win to hold their 2nd spot, while Fnatic simply wanted to finish with a flawless run. The Round 2 Playoffs seed was just the icing on the cake.

Guild Esports in Danger

Guild Esports had a great run in the VCT EMEA Challengers group stage and achieved some solid results. They dropped down to the third place after losing to Fnatic, but still managed to secure an Upper Bracket placement in the Playoffs.

However, this is where things get tricky. They’ll be playing against Group A’s second place team, which will either be FunPlus Phoenix or M3 Champions. Neither option is favourable for Guild Esports.

M3 Champions have shown themselves to be completely unaffected by the recent delays and the fact they had to attend the Valorant tournament under a completely different name. They’re one of the best teams in the world, and they’re here to prove it. If Guild Esports ends up facing them, there’s a high chance they’ll end up dropping down into the Loser’s Round.

If M3 Champions win their next two matches, they’ll climb to the top of Group A. In this case, Guild Esports will face FunPlus Phoenix, which is a better option for them. Still, FunPlus Phoenix will be a tough opponent as they’ve shown great form in Group A so far.

M3 Champions Gunning for the Top

M3 Champions have had their fair share of problems recently, and none of it related to their actual team performance. In fact, they’re stronger than ever and they’re aiming to take this tournament by storm.

They already took down Natus Vincere yesterday, but now it’s time to deal with BIG and LDN UTD. BIG is dead last in Group A with four losses, so it’s really hard to imagine M3 Champions dropping the ball here. LDN UTD could be a different story.

The boys from Britain have had a pretty solid run so far and have shown to be quite capable. Since this will be the final match of the group stage, the stakes will be much higher. This could cause problems for M3 Champions since we’ve seen them buckling under pressure in certain moments in the past. Still, we believe M3 Champions will persevere and win both matches, finish first in Group A, and proceed to the Playoffs Upper Bracket Round 2.
