Metaphor: ReFantazio Releases Fresh Trailer and Gameplay Information – MonsterVine

During the Summer Game Fest 2024, Atlus and Sega unveiled a fresh trailer for their forthcoming fantasy role-playing game, Metaphor: ReFantazio. Named "Awaken," this latest trailer offers a further glimpse into the game's narrative and mechanics.

After the Summer Game Fest, Atlus came back later that evening to provide a more detailed look at Metaphor: ReFantazio in a dedicated showcase. This event highlighted the game's combat mechanics and the Archetype system. The Archetype system lets players select from a variety of classes for their party, each class offering unique abilities and strengths. These Archetypes influence the turn-based squad battles and also determine the main character's action skills in the fast-paced combat sequences that initiate battles.
The presentation also highlighted the Synthesis system, enabling players to combine the turns of two characters for a unique collaborative attack. For instance, an Archetype could utilize an element it typically doesn't have access to by partnering with another character for a Synthesis attack. Additionally, a team composed largely of one Archetype might acquire potent Synthesis abilities to balance its inherent biases.

Mark your calendars: ReFantazio is set to launch on October 11 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (available through Windows and Steam).
