Time magazine starts accepting crypto payments for its digital subscriptions and now the Crypto.com users can purchase an 18-month subscription using CRO and other cryptocurrencies as we can see more in today’s crypto news.

In partnership with Crypto.com, Time Magazine is now accepting one-time crypto payments for its 18-month digital subscription to all users that will elect to pay with Crypt.org coin, or CRO will get 10% cashback on their purchase with the digital subscription being valued at $49.

The option to pay with cryptocurrency is now available in the United States and Canada with an additional global rollout scheduled for July of this year. Keith Grossman, the president of Time, said that the partnership with Crypto.com is a further innovation that will allow the publication to build on the existing community of more than 2 million subscribers.

Bharat Krish, the chief technology officer of Time described the cryptocurrency as a payment option with the next phase in the company being “continued digital transformation and the latest example of how Time is embracing new technologies in order to build innovative products and offerings for all members of our community.”

Time Magazine has been swift to embrace digital assets this year and only now auctioned three nonfungible token covers that are based on the famous “Is God Dead?” design from 1966. For the latest cover, Time asked “Is Fiat Dead?” in reference to the state-backed paper currencies. Crypto.com has been a leading proponent for digital currency payments and is giving users significant discounts for paying with the native CRO token. The company launched a suite of pre-paid Visa cards which reward users with cashback rewards paid with the CRO tokens.

Time Magazine, which is the popular American news publication that first issued in 1923, is now accepting crytpocurencies as a form of payment that offers another completing sign that digital-asset adoption is on the rise.

Speaking of news outlets, The New York Times ran a column about the emerging market for NFTs and put an image of a piece up for auction as an NFT and the article was titled “Buy the Column on the Blockchain”  which eventually someone did. The New York Times NFT was sold for around $560,000 on Foundation which is the dedicated marketplace for digital collectibles and the last-minute bidding on NFT boosted the price quicker, rising from just over $100K to half a million a matter of moments.
