The Houston Texans will sign free-agent defensive back Jimmie Ward according to Ian Rapoport.

The #Texans are expected to sign former #49ers DB Jimmie Ward, sources say, giving new coach DeMeco Ryans a familiar face and leader in his defensive backfield.

Ward, 31, played for DeMeco Ryans when he was the defensive coordinator in San Francisco. In nine seasons with the 49ers, Ward has 451 total tackles, seven interceptions and 44 passes defended.

Houston has made an effort to improve their defense in free agency with the signings of Hassan Ridgeway, Chase Winovich and now Ward.
