Ethereum’s Environmental Footprint: Breaking Down the Misconceptions

Ethereum’s Environmental Footprint: Breaking Down the Misconceptions By Yorke E. Rhodes III, EEA Board Member and Co-Founder blockchain @Microsoft There’s no denying that blockchain, Ethereum, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the entire ecosystem surrounding them have been maturing quickly and gaining traction with a mainstream audience. However, while the space continues to amass loyal and enthusiastic [...]

How Law Enforcement Seized 94,000 Bitcoin Stolen From Bitfinex

Federal authorities tracked down and seized more than 94,000 bitcoin allegedly stolen from Bitfinex. But how did they get their hands on the pseudonymous funds?

Bitcoin steadies as gold hits $2K, US dollar strongest since May 2020

Surging commodities and a strong dollar add to stock traders' woes, with Goldman Sachs' former CEO wondering why crypto assets are not "having a moment."

SharkBot Banking Malware Spreading via Fake Android Antivirus App on Google Play Store

The threat actor behind a nascent Android banking trojan named SharkBot has managed to evade Google Play Store security barriers by masquerading as an antivirus app. SharkBot, like its malware counterparts TeaBot, FluBot, and Oscorp (UBEL), belongs to a category of financial trojans capable of siphoning credentials to initiate money transfers from compromised devices by circumventing

Lessons Learned on Language Model Safety and Misuse

The deployment of powerful AI systems has enriched our understanding of safety and misuse far more than would have been possible through research alone. Notably:

  • API-based language model misuse often comes in different forms than we feared most.
  • We have identified limitations in existing language model evaluations that we are

Discrete-Time Quantum-Walk & Foloquete Topological Insulators via Distance-Selective Rydberg-Interaction

Quantum 6, 664 (2022).

https://doi.org/10.22331/q-2022-03-03-664

This article proposes the first discrete-time implementation of Rydberg quantum walk in multi-dimensional spatial space that could ideally simulate different classes of topological insulators. Using distance-selective exchange-interaction between Rydberg excited atoms in an atomic-array with dual lattice-constants, the new setup operates both coined and coin-less models of discrete-time quantum walk (DTQW). Here, complicated coupling tessellations are performed by global laser that exclusively excite the site at the anti-blockade region. The long-range interaction provides a new feature of designing different topologically ordered periodic boundary conditions. Limiting the Rydberg population to two excitations, coherent QW over hundreds of lattice sites and steps are achievable with the current technology. These features would improve the performance of this quantum machine in running the quantum search algorithm over topologically ordered databases as well as diversifying the range of topological insulators that could be simulated.

Using Mental Skills to Increase Your Esports Performance

Introduction We’ve already had a look in previous blogs about how esports performance is heavily reliant on cognitive abilities and fine motor skills1. In those blogs we talked about how sleep was an important factor on cognitive abilities and your performance in esports, but now let’s look at techniques known as mental skills that are […]

How To Structure Intent In Chatbots And Gather Useful Feedback

I recently collaborated on several projects involving chatbots and had the opportunity to discuss with industry experts about the main difficulties that are often encountered in this type of project. While it is becoming easier and easier to build conversational assistants, it looks like there are some problems that emerge systematically as the chatbot grows, […]
