Squirtle Squad signs with Nouns

Date:

A new organization has entered the CS:GO space, picking up the team around Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen.

After getting dropped from Gaimin Gladiators last month, the team last known as the Squirtle Squad have found a new home as they signed with a recently-launched esports organization called Nouns. The organization is backed by a cryptocurrency-related company boasting the same name.

The exact extent of the deal between the two sides is unclear, but Nouns has revealed that the team will represent the organization at the upcoming Americas Regional Major Ranking tournament in Stockholm and “in the foreseeable future.”

Squirtle Squad’s search for a new home is over

Despite securing a spot at the RMR, the team lost support from Gaimin Gladiators in mid-August and began their search for funding with aims to go on a bootcamp in Europe ahead of the qualifying tournament for the IEM Rio Major. They were able to raise over $2,000 for the trip in less than two weeks through a gofundme campaign.

With the team finding an organization to provide them with the support needed, the gofundme campaign has now been put on hold, with SEMPHIS stating that he is in the process of “figuring out how to refund everybody who has donated.”

The team’s debut under the new organization is currently underway as Nouns are facing Detonate in the group stage of ESL Challenger League Season 42 North America.

Before they travel to Europe to prepare for their RMR campaign, Danny “cxzi” Strzelczyk & co. also have the ESL Challenger Rotterdam closed qualifier to play, from September 17-18, as well as a few more ECL group matches.

Nouns are:

United States Dominick “JazzPimp” Dimpfel
United States David “cynic” Polster
United States Brendan “Bwills” Williams
United States Danny “cxzi” Strzelczyk
United States Jeorge “jeorgesnorts” Endicott

Canada Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen (coach)
