SPOR appoints senior leadership team following growth

Date:

SPOR has appointed Glyn Hughes to the company’s newly formed senior leadership team following significant growth over the past 12 months.

Hughes has joined as operations manager from a senior position at Electrosonic, and will be part of the senior leadership team with Steph Kenny who has been promoted to this role.

As operations manager, Hughes will oversee systems integration, including project management, engineering, commissioning and installation, with a dotted line over to the pre-sales/solutions architect team.

Hughes was head of engineering at Electrosonic in the UK from 2017 before being promoted to operations lead for EMEA in 2021. He has almost 30 years experience in AV, originally starting at Shuttlesound (the then importer of Electrovoice and Crown audio equipment) in 1992, where he worked on theatre and stadium sound systems.

Career highlights include working on the Millennium Dome, where he engineered and ran the site for four zones and the central show. At Wembley Stadium, he ran the site and co-ordinated the installation of 6,500 loudspeakers. And at Dubai Expo 2020, he oversaw the installation of two large pavilions and engineered a third pavilion.

Hughes said: “I am very excited to be a part of SPOR and a part of the journey that they are making. We have ambitious plans for growth and an amazing reputation for a company that is (comparatively) so young. I love the people, the collective attitude and spirit!”

Steph Kenny joined SPOR as a procurement manager in 2020, before joining the senior leadership team this year. She previously worked at AVI-SPL, working her way up from procurement assistant to supervisor and manager within four years, before relocating to the North West.

She added: “I feel hugely privileged to be a part of SPOR’s growth and success, it has been so exciting to watch the team grow and see the company go from strength to strength in such a short period of time. I’m looking forward to embarking on my new role, conquering the challenges, sharing the rewards and continuing on the journey.”

Workplace technology integrator SPOR was founded in 2019 by directors Chris Spence and Chris Gore. The company has six more open positions to fill by January 2023 and is currently recruiting for another senior leadership team member in the area of sales management.
