Ripple Labs Inc. and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are still engaged in lawsuits. Still, the defense counsel and pro-Ripple attorney James K. Filan have provided a new update on the case.
As per the recent updates, Forbes journalist Dr. Roslyn Layton has shared that she will be filling out an amendment petition so that the court can allow her to intervene and be granted access to the Hinman Speech Documents.
#XRPCommunity #SECGov v. #Ripple #XRP Dr. Roslyn Layton has filed an Amended Motion to Intervene to petition the Court for access to the Hinman Speech Documents. In an earlier edition of Investor Bites, a trusted media source, it was reported that Layton had submitted a move for her to be granted access to Hinman’s guarded speech papers.
Reports indicate that Roslyn first claimed that the SEC had given the Hinman Speech Papers to support its motion for summary judgment, even though this was not the case.
The speech given by Hinman has been a component of this continuing legal battle that has caused the greatest contention. Ripple’s legal team exerted significant effort to convince the court to force the SEC to turn over the records.
Ripple believes that the conclusions made in the Hinman lecture in June 2018 on what characteristics of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) prevent them from being classified as securities may be applied to the digital currency known as XRP.
Over 18 months and 6 court orders later, we finally have the Hinman docs (internal SEC emails and drafts of his infamous 2018 speech). While they remain confidential for now (at the SEC’s insistence), I can say that it was well worth the fight to get them.

Many people in the crypto industry see the lawsuit between the SEC and Ripple as the most pivotal case. Yet, the commission’s regulatory approach is expected to shift in the wake of a win for Ripple.
