For the first time ever, the iconic survival horror series Resident Evil is diving into the world of music. Through a collab, that is. Capcom has announced the Resident Evil collab with Japanese metal idol group BABYMETAL.
It’s to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2026!
The announcement came in during BABYMETAL’s concert at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. It was iconic for another big reason. The group made history as the first Japanese group to hold a solo performance at the venue.
The teaser video offers quick flashes of artwork that hint at possible designs for the new Resident Evil x BABYMETAL collection. Capcom has yet to share specific details on what the items will include. But the collection is arriving sometime in 2026 for sure.
A dedicated website for the Resident Evil 30th anniversary has also gone live. You can track news and updates as more announcements drop. In the meantime, take a look at the Resident Evil x BABYMETAL teaser below.
Apart from the collab, Capcom is preparing for a major year. Resident Evil: Requiem, the ninth mainline instalment in the series, is set for release in February 2026. And of course, there’s the upcoming mobile real-time strategy title Resident Evil Survival Unit.
Resident Evil, known as Biohazard in Japan, first dropped in 1996 on the PlayStation. Created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara, its eerie atmosphere, puzzle-solving, and claustrophobic encounters with the undead helped define what we now call survival horror.
Since then, the series has spawned 30 total game releases by the time Requiem launches. Yep, just in time for its 30th! The series also has six live-action films, four animated movies, an anime miniseries, a Netflix adaptation, comics, and shelves of collectibles.
