You.com, the AI-powered search engine, recently launched a new subscription chatbot called YouPro that incorporates GPT-4 and Stable Diffusion XL; two of the most advanced AI models for creating text and images.

For $9.99 a month, subscribers will receive access to YouPro during peak times and priority access to new features and improvements. Users will also get unlimited access to cutting-edge AI models GPT-4 and Stable Diffusion XL, to search, write, code, and create images.

You.com already operates YouChat, a free AI tool that lets users search the web via chat, and generate text and images, with references. The company’s latest offering – YouPro – is being touted as a game changer that combines the capabilities of Midjourney and ChatGPT. Here, MetaNews take a look at what you can do with YouPro.

What is YouPro?

According to You.com founder and CEO Richard Socher, YouPro is “an all-in-one subscription” that offers a “comprehensive AI model for summarization, reasoning, problem-solving; and unlimited AI writing.”

In addition, the app includes photorealistic images, personal assistant features, and tutoring. In a blog post, Socher called YouPro “the ultimate AI toolkit, combining our most advanced AI models – YouChat, YouImagine, and YouWrite – into a single subscription plan.”

The AI chatbot builds on You.com’s long-term ambitions. The so-called chat-first search engine launched in 2020 as a way for users to take back control of their privacy online.

The search engine allows people to customize their search results and privacy settings, giving them more control over the information that is shown to them. This is in contrast to other search engines, such as Google, which are seen as being more opaque about how they collect and use user data.

Socher revealed that You.com went “from hundreds of thousands of users to several millions of users and millions of queries per day” in recent months. The number of people installing the search engine’s Chrome extension as the default navigation bar has swelled to 250,000.

“I want to build a long-term viable business,” Socher told Forbes. “I don’t want to just hype up a bunch of stuff, burn through tons of VC money and then have to get acquired.”

What can you do with YouPro?

Writing on Twitter, artificial intelligence professor Jas Singh, described YouPro as “an AI chatbot capable of everything.” He illustrated how the premium chatbot works based on his own experiences with it.

One takeaway is that YouPro is able to do everything that ChatGPT can do at half the cost. ChatGPT Plus, the subscription version of the popular conversational AI chatbot from OpenAI, costs $20 per month.

Both YouPro and ChatGPT run on GPT-4, a language model that relies on deep learning to generate human-like responses to given user prompts. OpenAI developed the model with vast quantities of data scraped from the Internet.

Generate images

YouPro provides unlimited access to an AI search engine but its abilities go beyond that. It can also generate photorealistic images with a click using Stable Diffusion XL, the most advanced development in the stable diffusion text-to-image suite of models launched by Stability AI.

As Singh says, simply enter the prompt to get four images in different styles.

Chat/search in any language

Users get access to GPT-4 powered YouChat “to supercharge their search experience.” The AI now provides detailed and accurate human-like responses across various topics, and can answer more complex queries.

People are able to switch between basic and GPT-4 YouChat, which can respond to questions in 19 languages. The search feature is connected to the Internet, just like ChatGPT Plus, allowing for up-to-date information.

Coding and AI writing generations

Using GPT-4, YouPro can complete and generate code within seconds. People can also gain unlimited access to YouWrite, an AI-powered writing assistant for generating text.

Once you input any word, phrase, or sentence, the app is able to transform that into a blog post, landing page copy, professional email, or essay.

Manage chat history

YouChat saves generated info privately, visible only to logged-in users. Users can view, share, rename, and delete prior YouChat conversations to enhance their web experience.

Mixed reaction

YouPro has been met with mixed reactions, with some users praising its innovative features and others criticizing its interface.

“I’m not paying them [You.com] a dime until they disable that Cloudflare security check. If they can’t figure out I’m a real user after opening an account and using the same address repeatedly but at reasonable rates they don’t deserve my money,” said a user named Esapak.

“Nice to see an app that combines all the elements of the AI industry. All-in-one,” said another on Twitter.

Another complained: “I like You.com, particularly because their LLM tries to quote its sources and fact-checking is much easier. Still, their UX is unusably cluttered, which is a shame.”
