The insectoid Cymanti is one of the strangest and most strategic tribes in The Battle of Polytopia. But their latest rework completely changes how they function, especially in how they interact with water and poison. Keep reading to find out all about the rework.

The most immediate difference lies in the Algae system

Algae is now an entirely new tile type. The change lets you stack other improvements on top of it while also granting a free bit of Aphea Nectar each time it appears. The catch is that Algae no longer gives population bonuses and won’t slow naval units anymore, though it still hinders land-based movement.

Meanwhile, Cymanti now looks entirely different in The Battle of Polytopia. The tribe’s bug-like army has evolved in a few interesting directions. The Raychi has been split into two units. The original Raychi now acts more like a standard naval fighter, while the new Boomchi inherits its explosive tendencies.

Boomchi are amphibious, so they can crawl onto land, though survival isn’t exactly their strength. Their job is simple: explode when needed, spread Algae, and cause chaos.

Adding to the maritime makeover is the introduction of the Living Island. It’s a massive aquatic creature that naturally spawns fruitless Algae as it drifts across the ocean.

The Living Island is basically the Cymanti’s answer to a Juggernaut. It’s massive, destructive, and useful for bridging sea travel for ground forces. On that note, catch a glimpse of the reworked Cymanti in The Battle of Polytopia.

Meanwhile, the Clathrus structure has been moved to land, now growing from Fungi instead of Algae. It’s still toxic but no longer connects networks.

Mycelium can now grow directly on Algae to maintain synergy in the tribe’s ecosystem. Even Cymanti explorers have adapted, gaining the ability to move freely across water like other tribes.
