• Oh Baby Games has recently announced that it has raised $6 million in a seed fundraising round co-led by eGirl Capital and Synergis Capital, with the participation of web3 investing firm gmjp and Merit Circle DAO. 
• The developer also announced its first blockchain game, What The Kart.
• They are also set to release other games this year, such as “Rugpull Guys” and “Platform Fighter.”

Although the bear market is still ongoing, game developers are still actively expanding and creating web3 games.

In a media release, game developer Oh Baby Games announced that it has successfully raised $6 million in a seed fundraising round co-led by eGirl Capital and Synergis Capital. The round also had the participation of web3 investing firm gmjp and Merit Circle DAO. 

Oh Baby Games also expressed their gratitude towards the other angel investors that participated, such as Twitchco-founder Kevin Lin, Metatheory, Santiago Santos, Wing Vasiksiri (WV), Kantan Games founder Serkan Toto, and characters from CT (Crypto Twitter).

“Every day something happens, and games are a great medium to tell those stories and the ones to come,” the release read. 

What the Kart

Following the fundraising success, Oh Baby Games has also announced the launch of its first game, “What The Kart,” which is the developer’s “fresh take on the Kart genre.”

According to them, the game will feature “beloved and reputable characters from CT, notable streamers onboarding to the platform, and different communities across the space.”

“The Kart genre hasn’t innovated for decades. Equipment should matter. Custom garages to personalize and show off. Ghost battles against others. Player made bounties. The tracks should tell a story, not just be a continuous 3 lap loop all the time,” said Pas Tran, Founder of Oh Baby Games. 

Tran also noted how they “fell in love with CT. There’s endless lore and stories being told there. Because of the immensely dedicated community on CT, the best content, stories, lore, characters, etc. all rise to the top. In this regard, content can be simultaneously crowd generated, approved, and endless.” 

As per the game developer team, they will feature Cross Game Collectibles, as those will be an integral part of their rollout strategy. 

Moreover, they also disclosed that they are set to release other games this year, such as “Rugpull Guys” and “Platform Fighter.” Oh Baby Games even teased that the games have been bootstrapped to date and were built by veterans in the industry. 

“We have all shipped games before, we’ve shipped games that have failed but also ones that have hit viral success. This raise allows us to move even faster,” they stated, citing that the team has been involved in many hit games, including Age of Empires II, Battlefield Franchise, Adventure Pals, Call of Duty Franchise, Crazy Fishing VR, League of Legends, Castle Crashers and Magic The Gathering.
