NFL Draft Prospects in the 2023 Orange Bowl

Date:

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2023 Orange Bowl.

Florida State Seminoles Draft Prospects

Jared Verse, EDGE

Verse spent the first two years of his college career at Albany of the FCS level. He transferred to Florida State before the 2022 season and stayed for the 2023 season. In his FBS career, he has racked up 89 total tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks. This season, he has tallied 41 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks.

At 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, Verse has decent size for an NFL edge rusher. He has shown good strength and ability to rush the passer as well as the ability to get to the quarterback. Verse was talented enough to get drafted in 2023, but decided to return to school for another season.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick

Keon Coleman, WR

Coleman played two seasons at Michigan State before transferring to Florida State for the 2023 season. In his career, he has 115 receptions for 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns. This season, he has 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He has great size for an NFL receiver at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds. For his size, he also has good athleticism and can win when jumpballs are thrown his way. He will need to work on his route running and consistency, but he has done a lot to build his stock this season.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick

* WR Johnny Wilson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected day-two pick.

*RB Trey Benson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected day-two pick.

*QB Jordan Travis is out for this game with a broken leg. He is a projected mid-round pick.

Other Draft Prospects: DL Braden Fiske (3rd-5th), TE Jaheim Bell (4th-6th), LB Tatum Bethune (4th-6th), S Renardo Greene (5th-7th), RB Lawrence Toafili (5th-7th), DL Malcolm Ray (5th-7th), LB Kalen DeLoach (5th-7th), CB Fentrell Cypress (5th-7th), S Akeem Dent (5th-7th), DL Fabien Lovett (5th-7th), DL Joshua Farmer (6th-UFA), OL Robert Scott (6th-UFA), OT Jeremiah Byers (UFA)

Georgia Bulldogs Draft Prospects

Brock Bowers, TE

Bowers signed with Georgia in 2021 and has been a star for Georgia over the last few seasons. He has 175 catches for 2,538 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns in his career. This season, he has 56 catches for 714 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Bowers is not the biggest tight end. He does block well for his size, but his main asset is as a receiver. Bowers has good speed and is able to separate from most players who line up to guard him. He could opt out for this game, as his draft stock is pretty solidified.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick

Amarius Mims, OT

Mims joined Georgia in 2021, but didn’t start seeing action til 2022. He started near the end of the 2022 season and helped Georgia win the National Championship. Mims entere the starting lineup full-time in 2023, but missed some time with an injury.

At 6-foot-7 and 340 pounds, Mims is one of the biggest offensive tackles in the class. With his size, Mims has good athletic ability. He is still very raw and needs to work on his technique. More reps could’ve helped his stock even more, but if he enters the draft, his stock is pretty good already.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick
