NFL Draft Prospects in the 2023 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

Date:

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2023 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Georgia State Panthers Draft Prospects

Jontrey Hunter, LB

Hunter joined Georgia State in 2018 and is one of the more experienced players on the roster. He has had some solid years, but really developed this season. In his career, he has 234 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss an six sacks. This season he has tallied 96 tackles, seven tackles for loss an one sack.

He has solid size for an NFL linebacker at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds. Hunter has been impressive stopping the run this season. His coverage ability could use some work, but he could have a chance to make an NFL roster if he is able to play special teams.

Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent

Gavin Pringle, CB

Pringle started his collegiate career at the FCS level with Bucknell. He transferred to Georgia State for the 2023 season. In his lone season at the FBS level, Pringle registered 37 total tackles, four passes defended and four interceptions.

He is a little undersized for an NFL cornerback at 5-foot-11 and 176 pounds. Pringle will need to add strength to hold up against more physical receivers at the next level. He showed good ball skills this season, but will likely need to play special teams to make an NFL roster.

Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent

Utah State Aggies Draft Prospects

Terrell Vaughn, WR

Vaughn started his college career off at the JUCO level before transferring to Utah State. He has played the last two seasons for the Aggies. In his career, he has 137 catches for 1,471 yards and 15 touchdowns. This season he has caught 81 passes for 847 yards and 10 touchdowns.

At 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds, Vaughn is undersized for an NFL wide receiver. He likely will have to play in the slot, but he can maximize that role with his ability once the ball is in his hands. There aren’t many players that can make the NFL roster at that size, but he will likely get a shot.

Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent

MJ Tafisi Jr., LB

Tafisi spent four seasons at Washington before transferring to Utah State. He has played the last two seasons for the Aggies. In his career, he has racked up 239 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and two sacks. This season he has 131 total tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss.

He is shorter at 6-foot, but has good size at 250 pounds. Tafisi has proven himself as a run defender, but will likely struggle in coverage at the next level. His best bet to make an impact is to be an ace special teams player.

Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
