MSI 2022 Rumble Stage Day 11: Evil Geniuses Stomp Through PSG Talon in Pivotal Game to Clinch Bracket Stage Berth

Date:

Evil Geniuses stomp through PSG Talon in a pivotal game to clinch a berth into the Bracket Stage on Day 11 at MSI 2022.

With G2 being handed yet another L in the previous game, the stage was set for PSG Talon to clinch themselves a Bracket Stage berth, since they hold the 2-0 head-to-head against the formerly undefeated titans of Europe. However Evil Geniuses had other plans, demolishing the PCS representatives in a 29 minute beatdown, leapfrogging past PSG to secure North America a historically-elusive placing into the knockout stage of an international tournament.

I have to say – watching Evil Geniuses blossom and grow from the first day of MSI to now has been a fulfilling rollercoaster of an experience. One thing that hasn’t changed from the LCS days are their shockingly decisive teamfight engages; they make the decision to start a fight quickly and then waste no time in executing the engage properly.

That was the biggest reason why they trampled PSG Talon today – between the Nocturne ult, Vulcan’s heat-seeking hooks, and Jojopyun’s ever-aggressive Ahri, Unified could never really play the game and PSG Talon crumpled to dust as their superstar got piled on in every single teamfight.

Jojopyun continues to impress despite being the youngest player at MSI 2022, showing off Ahri mechanics as he ran circles around the PSG Talon lineup. He even finished the game with the highest kill participation out of any player in the game, a rather rare feat for a mid laner these days. I cannot help but think how his proactive mindset and confident fearlessness are the root cause behind his visibly rapid improvement.

He is a breath of fresh air for all North American fans, who were tired of seeing the likes of Bjergsen, who dominate the LCS but mentally crumble under the raised stakes of international League of Legends.
