To onboard more Filipinos into the metaverse, play-to-earn game and asset discovery platform MetaverseGo announced that it has inked a collaboration agreement with Globe, one of the country’s leading telecommunications service providers.

“MetaverseGo is on a mission to build everyone’s gateway to the metaverse with Globe as a key content enabler. Its founders are set on democratizing the complexities of the metaverse to enable users to focus on discovering quality content, building communities, and engaging in commerce,” MetaverseGo said in a statement.

The announcement and signing of the contract for the partnership were spearheaded by MetaverseGo CEO Ash Mandhyan and Globe Chief Marketing Officer, Pia Gonzalez-Colby at The Globe Tower alongside the annual Globe Innovation Fest.

“Choosing to launch in the Philippines first was a no-brainer because of Globe,” said Mandhyan.

The asset discovery platform also promised that it will eliminate the barriers to entry by providing fast and easy access to web3 with only a Globe mobile number. (Read more: MetaverseGo Plans Give Non-Crypto Gamers Access To NFT Games)

“We’re incredibly excited to push the boundaries of what’s possible as we co-create experiences that enrich Filipinos’ digital lives,” Mandhyan stressed, emphasizing that Globe’s previous efforts to facilitate the adoption of several consumer tech products that have “become essential to the modern Filipino, but their continuous pursuit of innovation has built them into one of the most trusted brands in the Philippines.”

On the other hand, Gonzalez-Colby expressed that her team is excited about their new venture:

“Globe is proud to partner with locally-developed MetaverseGo, aligned with our vision of enriching Filipinos’ lives through digital innovation. Through this pioneering partnership, we want to make it easier for Filipinos to benefit from Web3 games and guilds with simpler and easier access through the MetaverseGo application.”

Prior to the signed partnership agreement, Globe subscribers were first introduced to MetaverseGo through Globe’s annual 917 #ExtraGDay in September 2022. The subscribers were able to redeem 1GB of free data allowance to experience the MetaverseGo app and get first dibs on its exclusive features through the GO promos and FamSURF packages. The promo is still active and will run until August 29, 2023. With this, Globe subscribers can still discover games, join guilds, and own an NFT.

Moreover, MetaverseGo and Globe also made 917 Gudi NFTs available for reward redemption through the GlobeOne App in celebration of 917 #ExtraGDay. The NFTs served as the ticket to #GMusicFest at the Circuit Events Grounds last September 17. (Read more: MetaverseGo Partners with Globe, Give Free Gudi NFTs)

“This collaboration between MetaverseGo and Globe continues to make earning, purchasing, and exploring the metaverse accessible to gamers and first-time web3 users. When a third of the online population in the Philippines adopted the Play-to-Earn (P2E) gaming model during the pandemic, it became clear to both MetaverseGo and Globe that Filipinos are ready to enter the metaverse,” they wrote in a statement.

Just this month, Globe also published a media release announcing that it has adopted and entered the metaverse through its own virtual platform, Virtual Hangouts, and its partnerships with other local and global metaverse-focused entities. Following the announcement, Globe partnered with “Superordinary Friends,” a collection of unique avatars each holding an iconic food item. According to Jerome Patalud, Head of Globe Rewards, “partnering with Superordinary Friends allows our customers to own a sample of Filipino artistry in the new world of Web3 without having to spend a single centavo. Instead, they can use their Globe Rewards points to discover their passions and interests in the metaverse.” (Read more: Own Unique Superordinary Friends NFTs with Globe Rewards)
