LEC Summer 2022 Week 3 Day 1: Larssen and Rogue Bounce Back Against Excel!

Date:

Larssen and Rogue bounce back against Excel to take the comeback win in Week 3 Day 1 of LEC!

Rogue take down Excel after a back and forth game following some heroics from Larssen’s signature Azir.  Malrang had a characteristic early game on his Jarvan, finding picks and helping Rogue establish an early kill and gold lead.

It was very indicative of what made him my MVP last split, thoroughly dictating the early game as if it was a high elo Korean soloq match.

Patrik continued his case for being an early split MVP this split with a terrific performance on Zeri – it’s a shame that his aggressive positioning were punished in the later stages. Rogue were able to use to catapult themselves back from an unfavorable position.

Larssen’s MVP performance in this game came chiefly off his Azir play in the mid to late stages of the game.

He stepped up massively to stymie the Excel engage with intelligent positioning and fast wall placements, stopping their uncoordinated onslaughts and greatly reducing their engage potency, allowing his teammates to fire back and pick Excel off in teamfights, slingshotting themselves back to take the win.

Rogue, and their franchise player Larssen, has been fairly interesting this split. The once-dominant regular season frontrunners have been much more up and down – losing early games and then catching up with their late game teamfighting.

Larssen himself has been a big factor in these comeback wins; it may be the late game meta favoring Rogue’s comeback strategy, but he has had a different vibe to him since his fateful reverse sweep against Fnatic in the playoffs last split.

MVP: Larssen (1)
