With so much still up for grabs and each team set to play three times each anything could happen. With the top four all to play for, and two spots in playoffs being fought over by four sides. It was set up to be a fascinating weekend of LoL action. Day one alone could see playoffs locked in, with Vitality and Excel having their fates in their own hands. SK Gaming v Misfits

SK secured first blood in the bot-side in a 3-v-2 dive. Then they continued to extend the lead in the bot side on the 7-minute mark, however, Misfits turned it around to pull back even on gold. The gold remained even into the 15-minute mark, with the game poised heading towards the late game. It was slow and steady but it was SK that pulled ahead. Finding themselves 4k ahead just 3 minutes later. The next 5-minutes were quieter until the Soul Drake spawned. Then, SK came online taking down three members of Misfits and claiming the Infernal Soul. SK picked up a clean Baron a few minutes later, turning that into an ace and a Penta Kill for Jezu. SK would come back for a second attack with Baron and this time they destroyed the Misfits base. A clean victory for SK as Misfits falter at the final hurdle.

Team Vitality v Astralis

First blood secured for Vitality as they look to secure the final playoff spot. By 10-minutes, the game was still level, though Astralis were the ones who carved out a small lead in the early game. The game’s first team saw the kills shared with the gold still even at the 15-minute mark. The next fight would see Vitality claim an ace as they finally took a hold on the game. They claimed multiple towers and a Drake alongside the five kills. Astralis tried to force for a play but Vitality was too strong for them. Winning yet another team fight Vitality looked to have secured the win. Again, Astralis tried to force a play but it didn’t come off. This time it was a Baron but they lost the fight and it was claimed instead by Vitality.  The Baron was more than enough for Vitality to claim the win and secure their spot in the playoffs.

MAD Lions v Team BDS

First blood was secured by MAD, but a 2-for-2 fight was the overall trade. MAD was the side to secure an early lead, taking it into the mid-game. They held a slim 1k lead at the 15-minute mark, with the game neck-and-neck. MAD continued to win fights, though they kept losing too many members in return to make any meaningful impacts on the Rift. Again, MAD won another team fight but nothing could be gained across the Rift. After claiming the Drake, BDS won the next fight 3-for-0, though Baron wasn’t an option. By the 25th-minute, with a Baron secured by MAD it was very clear that this was a game with nothing at stake. More reminiscent of a SoloQ game than a LEC Super Week. With Baron wearing off, MAD had secured a 6k lead. While it meant nothing, it was a win regardless.

Fnatic v Excel

First blood goes over to Fnatic, though Excel instantly trades it back. Fnatic would then turn that into two more kills on the bot side of the map giving them a 1.5k lead. The next fight was another even trade, with no team able to grind out an advantage from the play. Fnatic would maintain this lead, continuing to pick up small gains across the Rift. By the 15-minute mark, they’d amassed a cool 6k lead. That lead continued into the 20-minute mark, with Excel struggling to find a way into the game. Fnatic claimed the Soul Point as they forced Excel’s hand with the fourth Drake spawning soon. Despite Baron being up, Fnatic opted to win the game off the back of an ace instead. They dominated the fight as they go into the Playoffs in fine form.

Rogue v G2 Esports

First blood secured for Rogue as they looked to end the regular season on a high. A dominant early game for Rogue saw them take a big lead into the mid-game. While G2 did fight back, Rogue held onto a 4k lead. By 18-minutes, Rogue had an 11-6 lead in kills, while it wasn’t a free-for-all series, it was obvious that both teams had secured playoffs already. Rogue looked too dominant for G2, forging ahead with a 13k lead. With the third drake in their pockets, Rogue pushed into the G2 base and managed to knock it down. The win secured Rogue’s standing at the top of the LEC, while G2 ended up in 4th place.
