LCO Split 2 2023: Worlds journey underway, Vertex joins the fray

Date:

Our teams are ready to hit the Summoners Rift, fighting for a top-two seed to compete in the PCS playoffs–their chance at Worlds in South Korea. With a brand new best-of-two format, which teams will succeed?

  • Chiefs look to go back-to-back in ‘23
  • League newcomers Vertex take over Peace’s former slot
  • Games set to start on Monday, June 5th

After some much-needed recovery time post-DreamHack, the LCO is itching to get back into action.

With a shot at Worlds just beyond the PCS playoffs, the competition will be more heated than ever.

A contesting Wolfpack was announced in the off-season, with Vertex Esports making their League of Legends debut off the heels of Peace’s removal.

Other teams have also made adjustments to their rosters since we’ve been gone.

LCO Split 2 2023 Schedule & Results

There have been some major changes to the format of the LCO ahead of Split 2 this June. The round-robin stage will be played in best-of-twos as opposed to the former two separate best-of-one matches.

Points will be allocated depending on the results, with three awarded for a victorious flawless series, and one point to each team for a 1-1 outcome. Side selections will be submitted from both teams prior to the beginning of a series.

By the end of the round-robin, the top six teams will move into the next stage.

Rather than seeding into groups, the LCO has opted in favour of a double elimination playoffs bracket to give all teams a fighting chance.

The top two teams in our LCO playoffs will seed respectively for PCS playoffs, where they’ll be competing for a shot at Worlds in South Korea in October.
