Kominfo Launches Disability-friendly Metaverse On Website – CryptoInfoNet

Date:

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) launched inclusive features and metaverse for people with disabilities on its website in collaboration with state-owned telecommunications company Telkom.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria stated here on Tuesday that the innovations were made in the efforts to fulfill the rights of disabled people in Indonesia.

“As we know, there are almost 23 million Indonesians who are disabled, and these people are often neglected in terms of access to information,” he pointed out.

Patria remarked that disabled people can access the inclusive feature page on the ministry’s website kominfo.go.id through the “assistive touch” button.

When the button is pressed, several features will appear that can help people with disabilities to access content on the kominfo.go.id site.

The features include a page reading function, adding contrast, highlighting links, widening and adding space to texts, hiding images, and pausing buttons for animations.

The page is also dyslexia-friendly, with saturation settings. The page visitors can also set text alignment, line height, and page structure.

“It eases their access to get those special features,” Patria stated.

In addition, Kominfo launched a metaverse that has several features that can be accessed on Telkom’s metanesia.id page.

On metanesia.id, visitors can access the Press Museum and several products by the Multimedia College of Yogyakarta that is under the ministry’s auspices.

Patria affirmed that the launch of the two innovations aimed at increasing inclusivity in the internet or digital space.

“Our first step is launching the (page) access for disabled people, and the metaverse is for them to be present in the virtual space. Both can increase accessibility and inclusivity,” he remarked.

He stated that the inclusive metaverse and features on the ministry’s website have started operating since Tuesday while expressing hope that they could be milestones in increasing accessibility in Indonesia’s digital space.
