Dr. Antti Kemppinen, a senior scientist at the Quantum Computing Hardware Team of VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), will speak at IQT Nordics in June 2024. With his leadership in EU and national projects focusing on the optical control of electrical quantum technologies, such as Attojoule Cryogenic Communication, Kemppinen is at the forefront of advancing quantum computing and communication technologies. His work, which also delves into electrical refrigeration at cryogenic temperatures and single-photon detectors, represents significant contributions to the field of quantum technology.

Kemppinen’s extensive background in quantum metrology, stemming from over 15 years of experience at MIKES (the National Metrology Institute of Finland, now part of VTT), has endowed him with profound expertise in quantum current and voltage standards, as well as primary cryogenic thermometry. This experience is invaluable in the research and development of quantum computing hardware, where precise measurement and control are paramount.

At the IQT Nordics conference, Kemppinen is expected to share insights from his work at VTT on the optical control of electrical quantum technologies and his research on cryogenic systems essential for quantum computing. His presentation will likely cover the latest advancements in Attojoule Cryogenic Communication, exploring the challenges and breakthroughs in reducing energy consumption for quantum communication systems. Additionally, Kemppinen may discuss the importance of electrical refrigeration in maintaining the ultra-low temperatures required for quantum computing and the role of single-photon detectors in quantum communication and metrology.

Given his wide-ranging experience in quantum metrology and his current focus on developing quantum computing hardware, Kemppinen’s perspective offers a comprehensive view of the technical challenges and innovations in the quantum technology landscape. His expertise will be particularly beneficial for attendees interested in the intersection of quantum computing and metrology, the development of cryogenic technologies for quantum systems, and the future directions of quantum communication technologies.

IQT Nordics/Helsinki, June 24-26, Aalto University, Dipoli Building, Helsinki
The second annual Nordics conference partners with Bluefors, Business Finland, The Finnish Quantum Institute, and VTT and will focus on real-world quantum technology applications.
