Akurasi Tinggi Flare yang Revolusioner, Sistem Berbiaya Rendah

Tanggal:

While the world of decentralized finance is, in many regards, isolated from traditional financial spheres, certain applications require a constant stream of off-chain data to deliver value. Trading or lending platforms need timely updates to refresh asset prices, using bridges between DeFi and TradFi to achieve a constant rhythm of data.

Beberapa tahun terakhir telah terlihat Oracle blockchain – protocols that collect off-chain data and bring it onto the blockchain, publishing it for connected dApps and platforms – rise in popularity. Of these blockchain oracles, a continual favorite has been the FTSOv1 (Flare Time Series Oracle) provided by Flare. Flare is a data-first blockchain that aims to offer developers decentralized access to high-integrity data sources.

In early April, Flare announced the second version of its blockchain oracle, FTSOv2, utilizing advancements in its internal mechanisms to enhance accuracy, lower latency, and improve data delivery times. Beyond just providing a more reliable oracle, these advancements will act as a stepping stone to a more efficient decentralized future.

In this article, we’ll break down the recent innovations, demonstrate how FTSOv2 improves upon its first iteration, and signal why this next-generation blockchain oracle signifies a bright future for decentralized finance.

How FTSOv2 Delivers Faster, Expansive, and Precise Data Insights

In traditional blockchain environments, oracles use a permission-based approach, relying on data from large institutions and trading firms. This approach compromises the decentralized nature of the service to guarantee latency. Flare aims to change this by keeping a low latency service while relying on a wide net of provider submissions to maintain its decentralized offering.

The FTSOv2 expands on its first iteration, increasing the total number of available feeds and enhancing the frequency of updates. By combining update systems – pulling on anchor and stream updates, which we will discuss shortly – Flare is able to half the latency between data pushes and scale to provide up to 1000 data feeds.

The benefits of FTSOv2 are as follows:

  • Lower latency – This new oracle can deliver updates with a higher frequency, improving the reliability of data.
  • Improve Data Accessibility – Without higher costs, this oracle will improve dApps’ access to data feeds in decentralized finance, enhancing accessibility and refining data services on the blockchain.
  • Expanded Capacity – The new services that FTSOv2 offer will expand the data sources that Flare provides, with new stocks and commodity updates entering the system.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this new-generation oracle is that Flare has achieved these benefits without increasing gas fees. The vast majority of calculations will occur off-chain, with the providers taking responsibility for running calculations before submitting their figures to the chain.

Only verified information from the providers will enter the chain, minimizing the need for heavy on-chain calculations. This method of gaining data will reduce the active work of the Flare ecosystem, helping to obtain necessary data updates without unmanageable gas costs.

The FTSOv2 Delivery Models

At the core of FTSov2’s impressive range of benefits are two delivery models. This next iteration improves upon the already established anchor delivery that FTSOv1 uses while adding stream delivery to enhance the oracle’s ability to deliver timely updates.

Let’s break down what each of these delivery models includes.

Anchor Delivery

Anchor delivery is a tried-and-true system of oracle delivery. This strategy collects a range of estimates for 100 delivery providers, taking the average to produce a final figure. Providers calculate their estimates off-chain, submit them to the chain, and package the list of medium values into a single hash.

Once enough providers have sent their hash updates, the oracle determines the final values and will update all the information through anchor delivery. Flare will update these anchor data values every 90 seconds, providing a regular method of accessing highly accurate values.

Stream Delivery

Flare combines the high accuracy of anchor delivery with a new system, known as stream delivery. Stream delivery acts as a sequence of incremental updates per block, filling in the gaps in a feed’s figures between the anchor delivery updates.

This system uses Fast Updates, a process where a rotating selection of partners submits incremental updates to the data. Depending on how in-demand a certain feed is, users and dApps can pay to increase the increment, creating more reliable data for a cost.

For particularly volatile assets that would benefit from a greater degree of precision and more regular updates, the ability to increase the number of increments in a block will cover the majority of demands.

The Fast Updates system prioritizes speed to give a near up-to-date value for feeds on the Flare blockchain. This approach synergizes with anchor delivery to provide dApps with the speed and precision they need to thrive.

Under the Hood: How FTSOv2 Inspires Participation

To incentivize participation in the FTSOv2 partner program, Flare distributes a number of awards to those who supply data.

At the core of these rewards is accuracy. In the anchor data delivery system, 80% of the total awards are set aside for those that are closest to the weighted mean. By supplying accurate data figures, businesses are more likely to get a reward from Flare.

This accuracy-first system is equally used in the stream delivery service. While selecting a provider to submit updates between anchor updates is proportionally random, only providers that submit data that is within a reasonable range to the final anchor figure for that block will get a reward.

As the stream delivery system is still newer, Flare is offering a smaller participation award for any partners that develop and launch the needed architecture to send these updates. Their hope is that this, combined with ample accuracy-based rewards, will inspire a comprehensive and widespread level of participation.

Menghindari Bias

The anchor delivery system, which underpins the regular updates for the FTSOv2 oracle, requires a pool of data values from various providers. The protocol uses an aggregated mean by collecting data from 100 data providers. In order to avoid potential misrepresented figures leading to deviations in the published data, Flare uses a series of weighting systems.

Every partner that contributes data to the ecosystem has a relative weighting. However, instead of letting one or two whales overextend and influence the final recordings, there is a cap of 2.5% of the total voting. Partners will be able to submit their figures, with each partner’s weighting then impacting how much their number is taken into account.

The weighting that a provider has reflects its previous figures, with higher weightings being awarded for those that are consistently close to the aggregated mean. If a partner has over 2.5% weighting, their superfluous weight is equally distributed across all other providers that submitted to that anchor value.

This weighted system extends to the stream delivery service. The provider that Flare chooses to submit values for each block is proportional to the total weight of each provider. Reliable providers that have a history of correct values are more likely to be selected than less reputable companies.

This approach, combined with the reward system that prioritizes accuracy, contributes to a highly reliable data delivery oracle.

Creating a Data-First Blockchain for All

The new iteration of Flare’s Time Series Oracle will allow DeFi providers to leverage accurate and timely data to enhance their dApps and services. By deploying FTSOv2, Flare moves closer to its vision of democratizing access to data. With regular anchor updates and rapid stream delivery, businesses will always have a cost-effective, accessible, and completely decentralized method of bringing off-chain data to the ecosystem.

FTSOv2 represents a blockchain-first future where decentralized businesses can leverage blockchain technology while having a clear link and insight into traditional financial spheres and data insights. Prioritizing security, precision, and low-cost innovation, Flare’s new oracle release has made waves in the industry.
