HIG Capital has hired Carlos Soto from MSD Partners as managing director and head of US private equity business development.
At MSD Soto was managing director and head of business development in the private capital group.
He was previously managing director and head of business development at Comvest Partners responsible for managing the private equity origination team.
Doug Berman, head of U.S. private equity at H.I.G., said, “We have known Carlos for many years, and are excited to have him joining the H.I.G. team. He has a long history in private equity, having managed business development for several top tier firms.
“Carlos has outstanding long-term relationships throughout the entire private equity ecosystem, and we look forward to working with him to continue expanding the H.I.G. platform.”
HIG has more than $50bn of equity capital under management, across private equity, debt, real estate and infrastructure.
It hired Oliver Slade from Partners Group as managing director to oversee capital raising and investor relations activities in the Middle East earlier this year.
That hire came just a couple of week after the firm brought in former BC Partners and IK exec Stephan Madsen as a managing director focused on the Nordic region.
