Format and Schedule

Kicking things off on 30th June, the competition is taking place up to 2nd July. Hosted at Arlington, Texas, USA – there is $250,000 of prize pool on the line together with highly coveted Halo Championship Series Points.

Notably, these points are essential for teams to qualify for the Halo World Championship later this year as one of the best Halo tournaments.

With regards to the format, here are the three stages of this event:

  • Open Bracket – open signups of 96 teams, only the four best teams will join the teams already seeded for Pool Play
  • Pool Play – four groups of four teams, playing through a round robin. After all the BO5 matches are through, only the top 3 move on to the Championship Bracket
  • Championship Bracket – final 12 teams compete through a double elimination bracket, with a Grand Final which will be BO7 and a possible Bracket Reset

Starting things off, here’s the current seeding for the Pool Play, split into four groups:

  • A: FaZe Clan, Sentinels, Quadrant, TBD
  • B: Spacestation Gaming, Gamers First, Natus Vincere, TBD
  • C: OpTic Gaming, Shopify Rebellion, Luminosity Gaming, TBD
  • D: Native Gaming Red, Native Gaming White, BitterSweet, TBD

In this particular betting preview, we’ll be taking at a handful of opening matches of the Pool Play as scheduled:

June 30th 2023

  • Gamers First vs Natus Vincere (TBD)
  • Sentinels vs Quadrant (TBD)
  • Native Gaming Red vs Native Gaming White (TBD)

To do so, we’ll be using betting odds as provided by GG.Bet – feel free to learn more about this particular esports betting site in our GG.Bet review.

HCS Arlington Major: Betting Preview

Gamers First vs Natus Vincere

The last internatinoal clash for competitive Halo was back at the HCS Global Invitational DreamHack.

Back then, both Gamers First and Natus Vincere placed 9-12th.

However, Gamers First is respected to be a better team according to the Halo odds, especially considering they compete in the North American Region – the most competitive region in the HCS.

Meanwhile, Natus Vincere has climbed to the top of Europe recently – winning here would still be considered an upset though.

  • Predictions: Gamers First (2-1) Natus Vincere
  • Odds: Gamers First Outright Win (1.55), Natus Vincere Outright Win (2.38)

Sentinels vs Quadrant

Meanwhile, the story is very different when it comes to this next regional competition – Sentinels from North America, Quadrant from Europe.

Last season, Sentinels would be favoured here every single time. However, this season, the Sentinels roster is a shadow of their former selves.

Considering their poor run, and Quadrant impressed at the most recent event, Quadrant are surprised in this particular esports betting opportunity.

  • Predictions: Quadrant (2-0) Sentinels
  • Odds: Sentinels Outright Win (2.77), Quadrant Outright Win (1.42)
  • Betting Site: GG.Bet

Native Gaming Red vs Native Gaming White

This doesn’t happen often, but our third match is between two sister teams from the same esports organization.

Regardless, both teams are going for gold, starting with this match. Considering that at the HCS Global Invitational DreamHack, Red outplaced White, Red remains the favourite in this opening match.

Beyond that, Red have consistently performed better than White over multiple events.

  • Predictions:
  • Odds: Native Gaming Red Outright Win (1.56), Native Gaming White Outright Win (2.36)
