Grab Singapore Appoints Parliament Member for Public Affairs and Policy Role

Date:

Ride-hailing giant and superapp Grab has appointed Member of Parliament (MP) Tin Pei Ling as its Director of Public Affairs and Policy for Singapore.

Tin had begun serving in her new role in January and her new appointment came to light when she had attended Grab’s Chinese New Year lunch for its drivers and delivery partners at the Singapore Expo.

Tin had sidestepped questions regarding her new role and directed them towards the Grab team according to a report by The Straits Times. As of now, Grab has not issued an official statement through its press center.

Grab said in a statement,

“Pei Ling has deep on-ground understanding of digital economy and Smart Nation policy, and close ties with the local community.

She will build partnerships and programmes to harness the positive potential of technology to create impact in Singapore.”

She was elected to Parliament in 2011 under the governing People’s Action Party (PAP), its youngest candidate at that time, and has been the MP representing MacPherson SMC since 2015.

Tin had announced on her LinkedIn profile two months ago that she had stepped down from her role as a board member of Business China, a non-profit organisation that aims to strengthen the ties between Singapore and China.
